ଵିଷ୍ଣୁ ସୂକ୍ତମ୍

I shall now declare the heroic deeds of Vishnu, who measured the earthly realms, who established the high celestial abode, and who traversed the vast spaces in three strides.

You are the forehead of Vishnu, you are the back of Vishnu, you are the jaws of Vishnu, you are the gateway of Vishnu, you are the firm foundation of Vishnu; you belong to Vishnu, and I offer you to Vishnu.

May I attain that dear abode of His, where those who seek the Divine rejoice, for there, in the highest step of Vishnu, flows a spring of honey; He is indeed our kinsman.

Vishnu is praised for His heroic deeds, like a wild, formidable beast roaming the mountains; in His three vast strides, all the worlds reside.

You grow beyond all measure by Your own form; none can fathom Your greatness. O Vishnu, we know both the earthly realms and Your divinity, and we seek the highest state.

Vishnu traversed this earth for the sake of humanity and its dwelling; those who praise Him are steadfast, for He has created a vast and noble abode for all.

The Divine One, in His greatness, traversed this earth in three steps; may Vishnu, who is mightier than the mighty, be praised, for His ancient name is full of brilliance. May the Gods protect us from where Vishnu traversed the seven regions of the earth. Vishnu stepped forth, placing His feet in three ways, and the dust of His passage gathered together. Three steps did Vishnu, the infallible protector, take, thereby establishing the cosmic laws. Behold the deeds of Vishnu, by which He maintains His vows; He is the inseparable friend of Indra. The wise always behold that highest abode of Vishnu, like an eye spread across the heavens. The ever-watchful and inspired sages kindle that highest abode of Vishnu. May this lead to complete attainment, to the removal of all obstacles, to the fulfillment of all things, and to total victory. Om Peace, Peace, Peace.
