Goddess Devi

ಶ್ರೀದೇವೀಜೀ ಕೀ ಆರತೀ (ಮೋಹಿನೀ ರೂಪ)

(Srideviji Ki Arati Mohini Rupa in Kannada)

Also known as shree deviji aarti mohini · jaya jaya jaya devi jayati jaya

A short arati of five verses addressed to the Goddess in her Mohini form, and the fifth verse makes plain which story is meant: you cut the neck of Rahu and so protected the gods, you give death without ceasing and nectar to the wise, and you moved in battle among the ranks of the demons. That is the churning of the ocean, where Vishnu took a woman's form to keep the nectar from the demons and struck at Rahu when he had drunk. The hymn treats that form as the Goddess and addresses her as mother throughout, asking to be lifted out of the well of becoming.
