Lord Krishna (Jagannatha)

śrī jagannātha jī kī āratī

(Shri Jagannath Ji Ki Aarti (Hindi Aarti) in English (IAST))

Shivananda Swami

Also known as sri jagannath ji ki aarti (hindi aarti) · shree jagannath ji ki aarti (hindi aarti) · jagannath ji ki aarti (hindi aarti)

A Hindi aarti to Jagannatha with the refrain returning after every couplet, and its opening claim is the one that matters at Puri: in the Kali age it is you, and you alone, who are the friend of the destitute. Nilachala is named as the abode, and the deliverance is done by three and not by one — Subhadra and Balabhadra stand with him and the devotees are brought across together. The rest is what a person can see and offer. The discus and the conch in the hands, the crown on the head; the three rivers, Ganga and Yamuna and Sarasvati, that washed those feet; Narada and Brahma and Shankara singing this same aarti; and then modakas, dried fruit and cooked dishes set before him. It is signed by Shivananda Swami, who promises the singer the wish he came with.
