Lord Narasimha

śrīnṛsiṃhārtiḥ (devaṃ brahmaśivādyairvandyam)

(Shri Nrisimha Arti (Devam Brahmashivadyaih) in English (IAST))

Also known as shri nrisimha arti 2 · sri nrisimha arti (devam brahma marathi) · shree nrisimha arti (devam brahma marathi)

A second Sanskrit āratī to Narasiṃha, known by its first line — the god who is to be revered by Brahmā, Śiva and the rest, I revere; lion-faced and man-bodied, remover of doubt. Its refrain is the familiar jaya deva jaya deva, and its subject is the appearance itself: brought forth from the pillar struck by Hiraṇyakaśipu's foot, with the moon-faced goddess seated on his left. The third stanza is given over to sound and scale in a single sweep — the terrible roar filling the whole shell of the world-egg, the matted hair standing rigid, the sun and the planets in the sky dimmed by it. The record's title had carried the word Marathi, which is wrong: the language throughout is Sanskrit, and the label has been removed rather than corrected in place, since two other Nṛsiṃha āratīs share this one's Sanskrit title.
