Lord Dattatreya

śrī anaghadeva aṣṭottaraśatanāma stotram

(Sri Anagha Deva Ashtottara Shatanama Stotram in English (IAST))

Also known as shri anagha deva ashtottara shatanama stotram · shree anagha deva ashtottara shatanama stotram · anagha deva ashtottara shatanama stotram

The hundred and eight names of Dattātreya as Anagha, the faultless one, given as verse. Anagha is worshipped with Anaghā, named here in the second line as his Lakṣmī-form, and the pair are the object of the Anagha Aṣṭamī observance. The list is organised around seed-syllables more than around deeds: he is reached by meditation on drāṃ, he keeps the one-syllable mantra and the six-syllable and the eight, he stands inside the twelve-syllable and the sixteen, and then each bīja is given its own effect — hrīṃ for every kind of wealth, kroṃ for drawing what is sought, sauḥ for quieting agitation of mind, aiṃ for speech, klīṃ for the three worlds, śrīṃ for great fortune, glauṃ for sovereignty over the earth. Toward the end it names the plainest of the offerings made to him, jaggery-water and the five cakes and roots and fruit, and asks for the increase of the household.
