Lord Vishnu

ಶ್ರೀ ಬದ್ರೀನಾಥಾಷ್ಟಕಮ್ (ಬದ್ರೀ ವಿಶಾಲ ಸ್ತುತಿ)

(Sri Badrinatha Ashtakam in Kannada)

Also known as shri badrinatha ashtakam · shree badrinatha ashtakam · badrinatha ashtakam

Eight verses to the Lord at Badrinath, each ending on the same salutation, and the first gives the place the claim it is known by: he has made his dwelling in a Vaikuntha that stands on the earth. What follows keeps to the qualities a pilgrim would come for — remover of the threefold affliction, giver of peace and nourishment and strength, giver of the highest joy, the seat of all the fords, saluted always by all the gods, and one who has taken up a body in play. The four aims of life are promised in the first verse and peace in the last. It is short and formal in the way a shrine hymn is, and the mountain around the shrine, unusually, is never once described.
