Lord Garuda (Vishnu)

শ্ৰী গৰুড কৱচম্ (নাৰদ-গৰুড সংৱাদ)

(Sri Garuda Kavacham in Assamese)

Also known as shri garuda kavacham · shree garuda kavacham · garuda kavacham

An armour from a conversation between Narada and Garuda, running head downward in the usual way but unusual in that every guard is Garuda himself under another name. The head is taken by Garuda, the forehead by Vinata's son, the eyes by the killer of snakes, the ears by the one the gods worship, the nose by the enemy of snakes, the face by Vishnu's mount; then the throat by the younger brother of the Sun's charioteer, which is Aruna, and the nails by the one whose weapons are his nails, and the waist by the one who carried off the nectar. It calls itself a cage of adamant at the close, and what it says it undoes is bondage: recited at the three junctures a man is loosed from confinement, and over twelve days from an enemy's hold.
