śrī vallabhabhāvāṣṭakam 1

(Sri Vallabha Bhava Ashtakam 1 in English (IAST))

Also known as shri vallabha bhava ashtakam 1 · shree vallabha bhava ashtakam 1 · vallabha bhava ashtakam 1

Eight verses in which one name is repeated in every clause until it has taken over every function a life has. Shri Vallabha is our husband; Shri Vallabha is always the goal; let the mind be in Shri Vallabha; let my love be for Shri Vallabha. Then occupation and action, both of them his; then seeing him, and remembering him; then smelling the flowers of his prasada and taking hold of the savour of his leavings; then hearing his qualities, remembering his lotus feet, thinking on his greatness, serving with the hands, going into his presence, standing always before him, and keeping company always with those who serve him. The hymn is a grammar of attachment worked through case by case, and by the end there is no activity left that has been given to anything else.
