শ্ৰী ৱল্লভভাৱাষ্টকম্ ২

Eight verses by Harirayacharya built on a counterfactual, which is an unusual thing for a hymn to be. Every verse asks how something would have been possible and then ends on the same condition: if your manifestation had not taken place on the earth, lord of speech. How would people have crossed a world whose far shore is not reached; how would they have followed Hari, whose nature is feeling; how would they have brought the greatness of the lands of Vraja into their own hearts? How would they have taken to the good road, or made their whole substance bear fruit, or, weighed down with sorrow, let go even of the fruit of action? The praise is never stated directly. It is left standing as the answer to eight questions the verses decline to answer any other way.
