Lord Venkateswara

શ્રી વેઙ્કટેશ્વર પઞ્ચક સ્તોત્રમ્

(Sri Venkateshwara Panchaka Stotram in Gujarati)

Also known as shri venkateshwara panchaka stotram · shree venkateshwara panchaka stotram · venkateshwara panchaka stotram

Five verses closing on the same line — I bow to Veṅkaṭeśvara, lord of the mountain of the serpent king — the hill being Śeṣa himself in the local account, which is why that phrase rather than any other is the refrain. The first verse names him bearer of Śrī and giver of release to those who take shelter, friend of the lord of Śrīgiri, lotus-eyed and discerning. The rest keep to the Vaiṣṇava roll of names and objects without straining for novelty: Upendra whose feet are served by Śiva and Brahmā and the ranks of the gods, having sun and moon for eyes, dark as the great sapphire; the son of Nandagopa, praised by Sanandana, with teeth like jasmine buds; holding the Nandaka sword, the lotus, the conch, the discus and the Śārṅga bow. The last calls him the axe to the forest that was the demon Tāraka, and without a second.
