(Tara Stotram (Tara Cha Tarini Devi) in Odia)

Also known as tara stotra · tara cha tarini devi · tara ca tarini devi nagamundavibhusita

Eight names of Tara in three verses, and the record is a fragment of a longer tantric passage rather than a hymn with a beginning and an end — its last line calls what has just been given a hymn of eight names and promises the accomplishment of every purpose to whoever merely hears it. The names themselves are compressed into descriptions: Tara and Tarini, the ferrier; adorned with a garland of serpents and severed heads; her tongue lolling; blue in colour; and then, in one epithet that does not fit with the rest, bearing the form of brahman. The last of them puts a serpent at her waist and dark-blue cloth on her. It is the shortest of the several Tara pieces in this corpus and is used before a longer recitation rather than on its own.
