ଆଦିତ୍ଯହର୍ଷଣସ୍ତୋତ୍ରମ୍

Ten verses to the Sun by Ācārya Kauśalendra Kṛṣṇa Śarmā, who signs the last of them. It opens conventionally enough — you are Hari to the Vaiṣṇavas, you are Śiva, you are the Śakti, you are lord of the hosts and of the gods — and then turns into something far less comfortable than praise. The third verse admits that we are seized by attachment from the moment of birth and have forgotten ourselves inside Śāmbarī's illusion; the sixth asks how a soul with no claim on anything can reach that abode at all; the seventh says outright that purity and right conduct have been let go, that we are settled in wrong, and that we perform our sacrifices only to fill the belly — and asks the lifter of the fallen to be satisfied even with that. Praise resumes at the end, with the seven rays and the seven worlds.
