Lord Krishna

ಆರತೀ ಕೀಜೇ ಶ್ರೀ ನಟವರ ಕೀ

(Arati Kije Sri Natavara Ki in Kannada)

Also known as bhagwan natvar aarti

An aarti to Krishna as Natavara, the master dancer, and unusually for the form it is built on paradox rather than on anything a room can see. He is partless and the holder of every art; he bears the universe and is himself borne; unaging, undying; made of illusion and the remover of illusion; without qualities and the temple of all qualities; unborn and unmanifest, and wearing a body made of play. The plain matter is there too — Govardhana lifted, Nanda's son and Yashomati's boy, dear to the cows and the cowherd women, the undoing of Kalayavana and Kamsa, the protector of Parikshit. But the song keeps returning to the double statement, and it closes on the mildest one it has: eternally true, at play in Goloka, and the sweet bridegroom of Radha.
