She is the beloved of the Rig and the Yajus and the Saman and the Atharva. She is the coiled power, the thousand-petalled lotus, the central channel. She is Svaha and Svadha and Shachi and Brahmani and Radha and Rudrani. Then the register drops and stays down: we are your children though crooked and false and unworthy, and what is asked for at the end is not wealth but a clean mind.
