Goddess Kamalatmika

kamalātmikopaniṣat

(Kamalatmikopanishat in English (IAST))

Also known as kamalatmika upanishad · kamala upanishad · sanatkumara kamalatmika

An Upanishad rather than a hymn, and it opens as one — with a journey and a sighting. Sanatkumara, wandering the worlds, passes beyond the worlds of the pure-minded and reaches the Vaishnava abode, attended by hosts of the divine, worshipped with coral platforms and heaps of jewels and pearls. There he sees the great Maya, dressed in cloth and ornament and upper garment of the highest worth, seated on a couch, moving on the far shore, and seeing the primal god, the blessed supreme lord, with her — and with a voice choked and the hair of his body standing up, he begins to praise. What follows is the praise and the teaching it carries, and the closing passage gives the fruit in the older idiom: a hundred years on the face of the earth, with sons and grandsons, having worshipped gods, fathers and men.
