ଶ୍ରୀ ଗୌରୀଶାଷ୍ଟକମ୍ (ଚିଂତାମଣି କୃତ)

Eight verses in the manner of the Bhaja Govindam and openly modelled on it — the refrain is an imperative repeated three times a line, worship Gauri's lord, worship Gauri's lord, worship Gauri's lord, slow-witted one. The first verse gives the reason in the same breath: crossing the hard-to-cross ocean of water-born becoming, the feet of Shiva the remover are to be meditated on in the mind; there is no other means, truly, truly, none. The second is the renunciate's list, and it spares nothing: wife and children, land, wealth, body, house — all of it impermanent; consider the whole of it without substance, a distortion of the womb, a thing thought up in a dream. The closing verse names Chintamani as its author and promises absorption in brahman to whoever reads it daily.
