Lord Krishna

জয জয গিৰিধাৰী প্ৰভু

(Shri Giridhari Ki Aarti in Assamese)

Also known as sri giridhari ki aarti · shree giridhari ki aarti · giridhari ki aarti

Victory, victory to the holder of the mountain — an aarti with that refrain returning after every couplet, and it works by naming the rescued. The courtesan, the vulture, Ajamila and the lord of elephants, all freed from their fear; the distressed and their distress; Draupadi in her trouble; the tribal woman given her happiness; Gautama's wife delivered. It does not keep to Krishna: Prahlada is here too, and the body of Narahari taken for his sake. Against that list it sets the other one — Agha and Baka and Baki destroyed, Trinavarta carried off, the pride of the Creator and of the lord of the gods brought down, and Kamsa given release by being killed. It closes by admitting the limit of the exercise: Shesha, Mahesha and Sarasvati sing his qualities and give up tired.
