ଶ୍ରୀହନୁମତ୍ପ୍ରଶଂସନମ୍ (ମହାଭାରତତାତ୍ପର୍ଯନିର୍ଣଯତଃ)

Twelve verses from Madhva's Mahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya, and what sets them apart from everything else in this cluster is who is speaking: here the Lord praises Hanuman, and not the other way round. Because I grant liberation, he says, everyone is able to make me some requital — but Hanuman is a devotee by his very nature, and against that there is no requital, and no remedy for me. Then the comparison, made flatly: in devotion, in fullness of knowledge, in unconditioned strength, in firmness and courage and splendour and restraint, there is nobody his equal, and Shesha and Rudra and Garuda are not his equals in the assembly of great qualities. Therefore, he concludes, I shall enjoy my own lordly station together with him — and the closing verses make that a gift formally given, a shared enjoyment granted to Hanuman for ever.
