Lord Narasimha

ശ്രീ നരസിംഹ ഭഗവാന കീ ആരതീ

(Shri Narsingh Bhagwan Ki Aarti in Malayalam)

Also known as sri narsingh bhagwan ki aarti · shree narsingh bhagwan ki aarti · narsingh bhagwan ki aarti

The Hindi āratī of Narasiṃha, in the metre of Om Jai Jagadīśa Hare and opening 'Om jai Narasiṃha Hare, prabhu jai Narasiṃha Hare', with the refrain returning after every couplet. It tells the story rather than describing the god: you split the pillar and appeared, and took away your servant's suffering; Hiraṇyakaśipu the sinner tormented Hari's devotee, gave grief to Prahlāda and had him bound to the post; even the gods were afraid, and the sinner threatened the boy. The narrative shape is what makes it an āratī for households — it can be followed by anyone who knows the Prahlāda story, which is most people, and the sung refrain carries the rest. It is the most widely used Narasiṃha text on this site's evidence and the plainest in language.
