ஶ்ரீ பாஸ்கர ஸப்தகம் (ஸப்தஸப்திஸப்தகம்)

Seven verses and a phalaśruti, signed in the colophon by Āpaṭīkar, who titles them Saptasaptisaptaka — a seven for the seven-horsed one. The lines are long and each verse works by piling up names: lion against the elephant of darkness, golden-bright, adorned with ten million rays, lord of the day, Divākara, Prabhākara, Khaga, Bhāskara, Vibhāvasu, Ravi. The third holds a small cosmogony — the earth was made by Bhānu at the beginning, is sustained always by Bhāskara's heat, and dissolves again into the splendour of Kaśyapa's son. The fourth salutes him in the form of Viṣṇu, with conch and discus. The sixth turns personal and asks the destroyer of darkness and of sickness to destroy quickly the faults of this body and this mind, and the last promises the reciter freedom from ignorance and from illness.
