Goddess Lalita

śrī tripurasundarī stotram 2

(Sri Tripura Sundari Stotram 2 in English (IAST))

Also known as shri tripura sundari stotram 2 · shree tripura sundari stotram 2 · tripura sundari stotram 2

Ten short verses, each closing on the same salutation to the Goddess Tripurasundari, and the last of them fixes the place. Built on a triple play upon one word, it hails her as lovely in her dwelling at Kanchi, adorned with the kanchi girdle, and mistress of the city of Kanchi — which identifies her, without saying so, as Kamakshi. The first verse begins somewhere else entirely, with the goddess of speech seated on a white lotus and pure as crystal, so that the hymn opens on Sarasvati's form and arrives at a particular southern shrine. What lies between is brief and iconographic, two lines of attributes to a verse, in the manner of a litany rather than a description.
