Sri Subrahmanya Sahasranama Stotram
ऋषय ऊचुः -
सर्वशास्त्रार्थतत्त्वज्ञ सर्वलोकोपकारक ।
वयं चातिथयः प्राप्ता आतिथेयोऽसि सुव्रत ॥ १ ॥
The Rishis said: O Knower of the essence of all scriptures, O benefactor of all worlds, we have arrived as guests; O one of noble vows, you are our host.
ज्ञानदानेन संसारसागरात्तारयस्व नः ।
कलौ कलुषचित्ता ये नराः पापरताः सदा ॥ २ ॥
By bestowing knowledge, rescue us from the ocean of worldly existence. In the Kali age, those people whose minds are impure are always engaged in sinful acts.
केन स्तोत्रेण मुच्यन्ते सर्वपातकबन्धनैः ।
इष्टसिद्धिकरं पुण्यं दुःखदारिद्र्यनाशनम् ॥ ३ ॥
By which hymn are they released from the bonds of all sins? (Tell us a hymn that is) capable of granting desired results, is meritorious, and destroys sorrow and poverty.
सर्वरोगहरं स्तोत्रं सूत नो वक्तुमर्हसि ।
श्रीसूत उवाच-
शृणुध्वम् ऋषयः सर्वे नैमिषारण्यवासिनः ॥ ४ ॥
O Suta, you should tell us a hymn that destroys all diseases. Sri Suta said: Listen, O all Rishis residing in the Naimisha forest.
तत्त्वज्ञानतपनिष्ठाः सर्वशास्त्रविशारदाः ।
स्वयम्भुवा पुरा प्रोक्तं नारदाय महात्मने ॥ ५ ॥
You who are devoted to the knowledge of truth and penance, and are experts in all scriptures; this was told long ago by the Self-born (Brahma) to the great-souled Narada.
तदहं सम्प्रवक्ष्यामि श्रोतुं कौतूहलं यदि ।
ऋषय ऊचुः -
किमाह भगवान्ब्रह्मा नारदाय महात्मने ॥ ६ ॥
I shall narrate that if you have the curiosity to hear it. The Rishis said: What did Lord Brahma say to the great-souled Narada?
सूतपुत्र महाभाग वक्तुमर्हसि साम्प्रतम् ।
श्रीसूत उवाच-
दिव्यसिंहासनासीनं सर्वदेवैरभिष्टुतम् ॥ ७ ॥
O son of Suta, O highly fortunate one, you should tell us now. Sri Suta said: (Narada approached) Him who was seated on a divine throne and praised by all the gods.
साष्टाङ्गप्रणिपत्यैनं ब्रह्माणं भुवनेश्वरम् ।
नारदः परिपप्रच्छ कृताञ्जिलरुपस्थितः ॥ ८ ॥
Having prostrated with eight limbs before Brahma, the Lord of the worlds, Narada stood with folded hands and asked.
नारद उवाच-
लोकनाथ सुरश्रेष्ठ सर्वज्ञ करुणाकर ।
षण्मुखस्य परं स्तोत्रं पावनं पापनाशनम् ॥ ९ ॥
Narada said: O Lord of the worlds, O best of gods, O all-knowing one, O compassionate one, (tell me) the supreme hymn of Shanmukha (Subrahmanya), which is purifying and destroys sins.
धातस्त्वं पुत्रवात्सल्यात्तद्वद प्रणताय मे ।
उपदिश्य तु मां देव रक्ष रक्ष कृपानिधे ॥ १० ॥
O Creator, out of your affection for your son, please tell me this. O Lord, treasure of compassion, instruct me and protect me, protect me.
शृणु वक्ष्यामि देवर्षे स्तवराजमिमं परम् ।
मातृकामालिकायुक्तं ज्ञानमोक्षसुखप्रदम् ॥ ११ ॥
Listen, O divine sage, I shall tell you this supreme king of hymns, which is endowed with the garland of Matrikas (letters) and bestows knowledge, liberation, and happiness.
सहस्राणि च नामानि षण्मुखस्य महात्मनः ।
यानि नामानि दिव्यानि दुःखरोगहराणि च ॥ १२ ॥
The thousand names of the great-souled Shanmukha (six-faced one), which are divine and destroy sorrows and diseases.
तानि नामानि वक्ष्यामि कृपया त्वयि नारद ।
जपमात्रेण सिध्यन्ति मनसा चिन्तितान्यपि ॥ १३ ॥
I shall tell you those names out of compassion, O Narada. By mere chanting, even those things contemplated in the mind are accomplished.
इहामुत्र परं भोगं लभते नात्र संशयः ।
इदं स्तोत्रं परं पुण्यं कोटियज्ञफलप्रदम् ।
सन्देहो नात्र कर्तव्यः शृणु मे निश्चितं वचः ॥ १४ ॥
One attains enjoyment here and in the hereafter, there is no doubt about this. This hymn is supreme, holy, and grants the fruit of a crore of sacrifices. Do not have any doubt about this; listen to my definitive word.
अस्य श्रीसुब्रह्मण्यसहस्रनामस्तोत्रमहामन्त्रस्य ।
ब्रह्मा ऋषिः ।
अनुष्टुप्छन्दः ।
सुब्रह्मण्यो देवता ।
शरजन्माक्षय इति बीजम् ।
शक्तिधरोऽक्षय इति शक्तिः ।
कार्तिकेय इति कीलकम् ।
क्रौञ्चभेदीत्यर्गलम् ।
शिखिवाहन इति कवचम् ।
षण्मुख इति ध्यानम् ।
श्रीसुब्रह्मण्यप्रसादसिद्ध्यर्थे जपे विनियोगः ।
Of this great mantra of Sri Subrahmanya Sahasranama Stotram, Brahma is the Rishi (seer), Anushtup is the meter, Subrahmanya is the deity. 'Sharajanmakshaya' is the seed, 'Shaktidharokshaya' is the power, 'Kartikeya' is the pin (kilaka), 'Kraunchabhedi' is the bolt (argala), 'Shikhivahana' is the armor (kavacha), 'Shanmukha' is the meditation. It is used in the japa for the attainment of the grace of Sri Subrahmanya.
करन्यासः -
Karanyasa (Hand gestures/consecration) -
ॐ शं ओङ्कारस्वरूपाय ओजोधराय ओजस्विने सुहृदाय हृष्टचित्तात्मने भास्वद्रूपाय अङ्गुष्ठाभ्यां नमः ।
Om Sham, salutations to the thumbs, to the one who is the form of Omkara, the bearer of vigor, the radiant one, the well-wisher, the one with a joyful mind, and the one with a shining form.
ॐ रं षड्कोणमध्यनिलयाय षड्कीटधराय श्रीमते षडाधाराय षडाननाय ललाटषण्नेत्राय अभयवरदहस्ताय तर्जनीभ्यां नमः ।
Om Ram, salutations to the index fingers, to the one who dwells in the center of the six-pointed star, the bearer of the six-fold energy, the glorious one, the support of the six centers, the six-faced one, the one with six eyes on the forehead, and the one whose hands grant fearlessness and boons.
ॐ वं षण्मुखाय शरजन्मने शुभलक्षणाय शिखिवाहनय षडक्षराय स्वामिनाथाय मध्यमाभ्यां नमः ।
Om Vam, salutations to the middle fingers, to the six-faced one, the one born in the reeds, the one with auspicious marks, the one who rides a peacock, the one with six syllables, and the Lord of Lords (Swaminatha).
ॐ पं कृशानुसम्भवाय कवचिने कुकुटध्वजाय शूरमर्दनाय कुमाराय सुब्रह्मण्यय अनामिकाभ्यां नमः ।
Om Pam, salutations to the ring fingers, to the one born of fire (Agni), the armored one, the one with the rooster flag, the destroyer of the brave (demons), the youthful one, and the one who is Subrahmanya.
ॐ भं कन्दर्पकोटिदिव्यविग्रहाय द्विषद्बाहवे द्वादशाक्षराय नित्यज्ञानस्वरूपाय द्वादशाक्षाय मूलप्रकृतिहिताय कनिष्ठिकाभ्यां नमः ।
Om Bham, salutations to the little fingers, to the one whose divine form is like a crore of Cupids, the one with twelve arms, the one with twelve syllables, the one who is the form of eternal knowledge, the one with twelve eyes, and the one who is beneficial to the primordial nature.
ॐ वं सच्चिदानन्दस्वरूपाय सर्वरूपात्मने खेटधराय खड्गिने शक्तिहस्ताय ब्रह्मैकरूपिणे करतलकरपृष्ठाभ्यां नमः ॥
Om Vam, salutations to the one who is the embodiment of Existence-Consciousness-Bliss, who is the soul of all forms, who holds a shield and a sword, who holds a spear in his hand, and who is the singular form of Brahman, to the palms and the back of the hands.
अङ्गन्यासः -
Anganyasa (Ritual of touching parts of the body)
ॐ शं ओंकारस्वरूपाय ओजोधराय ओजस्विने सुहृद्याय हृष्टचित्तात्मने भास्वद्रूपाय हृदयाय नमः ।
Om Sham, salutations to the heart, to the one who is the form of Omkara, the bearer of vigor, the radiant one, the well-hearted one, the one with a joyful mind, and the one with a luminous form.
ॐ रं षड्कोणमध्यनिलयाय षड्कीटधराय श्रीमते षडाधाराय षडाननाय ललाटषण्नेत्राय अभयवरदहस्ताय शिरसे स्वाहा ।
Om Ram, Svaha to the head, to the one who dwells in the center of the hexagram, the bearer of the six-fold energy, the glorious one, the support of the six chakras, the six-faced one, the one with six eyes on his forehead, and whose hands grant fearlessness and boons.
ॐ वं षण्मुखाय शरजन्मने शुभलक्षणाय शिखिवाहनाय षडक्षराय स्वामिनाथाय शिखायै वषट् ।
Om Vam, Vashat to the tuft of hair, to the six-faced one, the one born in the reeds, the one with auspicious marks, the one who rides a peacock, the six-syllabled one, and the Lord of Lords.
ॐ णं कृशानusम्भवाय कवचिने कुकुटध्वजाय शूरमर्दनाय कुमाराय सुब्रह्मण्यय कवचाय हुम् ।
Om Nam, Hum to the armor, to the one born from fire (Agni), the armored one, the one with a rooster banner, the destroyer of the brave (demons), the youthful one, and the auspicious Brahman (Subrahmanya).
ॐ भं कन्दर्पकोटिदिव्यविग्रहाय द्विष्बाहवे द्वादशाक्षराय नित्यज्ञानस्वरूपाय द्वादशाक्षाय मूलप्रकृतिहिताय नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट् ।
Om Bham, Vaushat to the three eyes, to the one whose divine form surpasses millions of Cupids, the twelve-armed one, the twelve-syllabled one, the embodiment of eternal knowledge, the twelve-eyed one, and the one who is beneficial to the primordial nature.
ॐ वं सच्चिदानन्दस्वरूपाय सर्वरूपात्मने खेटधराय खड्गिने शक्तिहस्ताय ब्रह्मैकरूपिणे अस्त्राय फट् ॥
Om Vam, Phat to the weapon, to the one who is the embodiment of Existence-Consciousness-Bliss, who is the soul of all forms, who holds a shield and a sword, who holds a spear in his hand, and who is the singular form of Brahman.
ॐ भूर्भुवस्सुवरों इति दिग्बन्धः ॥
Om Bhurbhuvassuvarom, this is the binding of the directions.
ध्यायेत्षण्मुखमिन्दुकोटिसदृशं रत्नप्रभाशोभितं बालार्कद्युतिषड्कीटविलसत्केयूरहारान्वितम् ।
कर्णालम्बितकुण्डलप्रविलसद्गण्डस्थलाशोभितं काञ्चीकङ्कणकिङ्किणीरवयुतं शत्रङ्गारसारोदयम् ॥
One should meditate on the six-faced Lord, who is as radiant as millions of moons, adorned with the luster of gems, wearing armlets and necklaces shining like the morning sun. His cheeks are beautified by dangling earrings, and he is adorned with a waist-girdle, bracelets, and tinkling bells, representing the essence of all beauty.
षड्वक्त्रं शिखिवाहनं त्रिनयनं चित्राम्बरालङ्कृतं वज्रं शक्तिमसिं त्रिशूलमभयं खेटं धनुश्चक्रकम् ।
पाशं कुक्कुटमङ्कुशं च वरदं दोर्भिर्दधानं सदा ध्यायामीप्सित सिद्धिदं शिवसुतं श्रीद्वादशाक्षं गुहम् ॥
I always meditate on Guha, the son of Shiva, who has six faces, rides a peacock, has three eyes, is adorned with colorful garments, and holds in his hands a vajra, spear, sword, trident, fearlessness mudra, shield, bow, discus, noose, rooster, and goad, while granting boons and fulfilling all desired attainments.
पञ्चपूजा -
Panchapuja (Five-fold worship)
लं पृथिव्यात्मने गन्धं कल्पयामि ।
Lam, I offer sandalwood paste to the one who is the soul of the earth element.
हं आकाशात्मने पुष्पाणि कल्पयामि ।
Ham, I offer flowers to the one who is the soul of the ether element.
यं वाय्वात्मने धूपं कल्पयामि ।
Yam, I offer incense to the one who is the soul of the air element.
रं अध्यात्मने दीपं कल्पयामि ।
I offer this lamp to the Supreme Self (Adhyatman).
वं अमृतात्मने अमृतं महानैवेद्यं कल्पयामि ।
I offer this nectar-like great food offering to the Immortal Self (Amritatman).
सं सर्वात्मने ताम्बूलादि सर्वोपचारपूजान् कल्पयामि ।
I offer betel leaves and all other ritual services to the Self of all (Sarvatman).
॥ अथ सुब्रह्मण्यसहस्रनामस्तोत्रम् ॥
Here begins the Subrahmanya Sahasranama Stotram.
ॐ अचिन्त्यशक्तिरनघस्त्वक्षोभ्यस्त्वपराजितः ।
अनाथवत्सलोऽमोघस्त्वशोकोऽप्यजरोऽभयः ॥ १ ॥
Om. He who has unthinkable power, who is sinless, who is unshakeable, who is unconquered, who is kind to the helpless, who is unfailing, who is free from sorrow, who is ageless, and who is fearless.
अत्युदारो ह्यघहरस्त्वग्रगण्योऽद्रिजासुतः ।
अनन्तमहिमाऽपारोऽनन्तसौख्यप्रदोऽव्ययः ॥ २ ॥
He who is extremely generous, who destroys sins, who is foremost, who is the son of the daughter of the mountain (Parvati), whose glory is infinite, who is boundless, who grants infinite happiness, and who is imperishable.
अनन्तमोक्षदोऽनादिरप्रमेयोऽक्षरोऽच्युतः ।
अकल्पषोऽभिरामोऽग्रधुर्यश्चामितविक्रमः ॥ ३ ॥
He who grants infinite liberation, who is beginningless, who is immeasurable, who is indestructible, who is firm, who is without blemish, who is delightful, who is the foremost leader, and who has immeasurable prowess.
अनाथनाथो ह्यमलो ह्यप्रमत्तोऽमरप्रभुः ।
अरिन्दमोऽखिलाधारस्त्वणिमादिगुणोऽग्रणीः ॥ ४ ॥
He who is the lord of the helpless, who is pure, who is vigilant, who is the lord of the immortals, who is the destroyer of enemies, who is the support of all, who possesses the qualities of Anima (atomic size) etc., and who is the leader.
अचञ्चलोऽमरस्तुत्यो ह्यकलङ्कोऽमिताशनः ।
अभिभूरनवद्याङ्गो ह्यद्भुतोऽभीष्टदायकः ॥ ५ ॥
He who is steady, who is praised by the immortals, who is without stain, who consumes immeasurable (or is the lord of the immeasurable), who is the conqueror, who has a flawless body, who is wonderful, and who grants desired boons.
अतीन्द्रियोऽप्रमेयात्मा ह्यदृश्योऽव्यक्तलक्षणः ।
आपद्दिनाशकस्त्वार्य आद्य आगमसंस्तुतः ॥ ६ ॥
He who is beyond the senses, whose nature is immeasurable, who is invisible, whose characteristics are unmanifest, who is the destroyer of calamities, who is noble, who is the primordial one, and who is praised by the Agamas.
आर्तसंरक्षणत्वाद्य आनन्दस्त्वार्यसेवितः ।
आश्रितेष्टार्थवरद आनन्द्यार्तफलप्रदः ॥ ७ ॥
He who is the protector of the distressed, who is bliss, who is served by the noble, who grants the desired boons to those who seek refuge, and who grants the fruits of joy to the distressed.
आश्चर्यरूप आनन्द आपन्नार्तिविनाशनः ।
इभवक्रानुजस्त्वष्ट इभासुरहरात्मजः ॥ ८ ॥
He who is of wonderful form, who is bliss, who destroys the suffering of those in trouble, who is the younger brother of the elephant-faced one (Ganesha), who is the creator, and who is the son of the destroyer of the elephant demon (Shiva).
इतिहासश्रुतिस्तुत्य इन्द्रभोगफलप्रदः ।
इष्टापूर्तफलप्राप्तिरिष्टेष्टवरदायकः ॥ ९ ॥
He who is praised by history and the Vedas, who grants the fruits of Indra's enjoyments, who grants the fruits of sacrifices and charitable works, and who grants the desired boons to those who seek them.
इहामुत्रेष्टफलद इष्टदस्त्वन्द्रवन्दितः ।
ईडनीयस्त्वीशपुत्र ईप्सितार्थप्रदायकः ॥ १० ॥
He who grants desired fruits in this world and the next, who is the giver of desires, who is worshipped by Indra, who is worthy of praise, who is the son of the Lord (Shiva), and who grants desired objects.
ईतिभीतिहरश्चेड्य ईषणात्रयवर्जितः ।
उदारकीर्तिरुद्योगी चोत्कृष्टोरुपराक्रमः ॥ ११ ॥
He who removes calamities and fears, who is worthy of praise, who is free from the three desires (for wealth, progeny, and heaven), whose fame is generous, who is industrious, and who possesses excellent and great prowess.
उत्कृष्टशक्तिरुत्साह उदारश्चोत्सवप्रियः ।
उज्जृम्भ उद्धवश्रोय उदयश्चोग्रलोचनः ॥ १२ ॥
He who has excellent power, who is enthusiasm, who is generous, who is fond of festivals, who is expanding, who is the source of prosperity, who is rising, and who has fierce eyes.
उन्मत्त उग्रशमन उद्वेगघ्नोऽगेश्वरः ।
उरप्रभावश्चोदीर्ण उमापुत्र उदारधीः ॥ १३ ॥
He who is maddened (with divine bliss), the destroyer of ferocity, the destroyer of agitation, the Lord of the mountains. He who has immense influence, who is exalted, the son of Uma, and of noble intellect.
ऊर्ध्वरेताः सुतस्तूर्ध्वगतिदस्तूर्जपालकः ।
ऊर्जितस्तूर्ध्वगस्तूर्ध्व ऊर्ध्वलोकैकनायकः ॥ १४ ॥
He who preserves his vital energy, the son who grants higher paths, the protector of strength. He who is powerful, who ascends upwards, who is supreme, and the sole leader of the higher worlds.
ऊर्जिवाानूर्जितोदार ऊर्जितोर्जितशासनः ।
ऋषिदेवगणस्तुत्य ऋणत्रयविमोचनः ॥ १५ ॥
He who is full of energy, powerful and generous, whose commands are mighty and exalted. He who is praised by sages and groups of gods, and who liberates one from the three debts.
ऋजुरूपो ह्यृजुकर ऋजुमार्गप्रदर्शनः ।
ऋतम्भरो ह्यृजुप्रीत ऋषभस्त्वृद्धिदस्त्वृतः ॥ १६ ॥
He who has a straightforward form, who acts righteously, who shows the path of righteousness. He who bears the truth, who is pleased by righteousness, the best among all, the giver of prosperity, and the truth itself.
लुलितोद्धारको लूतभवपाशप्रभञ्जनः ।
एणाङ्कधरसत्पुत्र एक एनोविनाशनः ॥ १७ ॥
He who rescues the distressed, who breaks the bonds of worldly existence. The noble son of Shiva (the one who wears the moon), the unique one, and the destroyer of sins.
ऐश्वर्यदश्चेन्द्रभोगी चैतिह्यश्चेन्द्रवन्दितः ।
ओजस्वी चौषधिस्थानमोजोदश्चौदनप्रदः ॥ १८ ॥
He who grants prosperity, who enjoys the senses (or is the lord of Indra), who is traditional, and worshipped by Indra. He who is full of vigor, the abode of medicinal herbs, the giver of vitality, and the provider of sustenance.
औदार्यशील औमेय औग्र औन्नतदायकः ।
औदार्य औषधकर औषधं चौषधाकरः ॥ १९ ॥
He who is generous by nature, the son of Uma, fierce, and the giver of elevation. He who is magnanimous, the creator of medicine, the medicine itself, and the source of all medicinal herbs.
अंशुमाल्यंशुमालीड्य अम्बिकातनयोऽङ्गदः ।
अन्यकारिसुतोऽन्धत्वहारी चाम्बुजलोचनः ॥ २० ॥
He who is radiant like the sun, praised by the sun, the son of Ambika, and the giver of ornaments. The son of the enemy of the blind (Shiva), the remover of darkness (ignorance), and the lotus-eyed one.
अस्तमायोऽमराधीशो ह्यस्पष्टोऽस्तोकपुण्यदः ।
अस्तमित्रोऽस्तरूपश्चास्खलत्सुगतिदायकः ॥ २१ ॥
He whose illusion has set (vanished), the Lord of the immortals, the unmanifest, and the giver of immense merit. He who has set aside enemies, whose form is beyond setting, and the giver of an unfailing, auspicious path.
कार्तिकेयः कामरूपः कुमारः क्रौञ्चदारणः ।
कामदः कारणं काम्यः कमनीयः कृपाकरः ॥ २२ ॥
Kartikeya, he who can assume any form, the eternal youth, the splitter of the Krauncha mountain. The fulfiller of desires, the cause of all, the desirable one, the beautiful one, and the ocean of compassion.
काञ्चनाभः कान्तियुक्तः कामी कामप्रदः कविः ।
कीर्तिकृत्कुक्कुटधरः कूटस्थः कुवलेषणः ॥ २३ ॥
He who has a golden luster, full of radiance, the lover, the giver of desires, the wise one. The creator of fame, the bearer of the rooster banner, the immutable one, and the lotus-eyed one.
कुङ्कुमाङ्गः क्रमहरः कुशलः कुक्कुटध्वजः ।
कुशानुसम्भवः क्रूरः क्रूरघ्नः कलितापहत् ॥ २४ ॥
He whose body is smeared with saffron, the remover of obstacles, the expert, the one with the rooster flag. Born of Agni (fire), the fierce one, the destroyer of the fierce, and the remover of the impurities of the Kali age.
कामरूपः कल्पतरुः कान्तः कामितदायकः ।
कल्याणकृत्क्लेशनाशः कृपालुः करुणाकरः ॥ २५ ॥
He who can assume any form, the wish-fulfilling tree, the beloved, the giver of desired objects. The doer of good, the destroyer of suffering, the compassionate one, and the source of mercy.
कलुषघ्नः क्रियाशक्तिः कठोरः कवची कृती ।
The destroyer of sins, the power of action, the firm one, the one wearing armor, and the accomplished one.
कोमलाङ्गः कुशप्रीतः कुत्सितघ्नः कलाधरः ॥ २६ ॥
He who has a delicate body, who is fond of the sacred Kusa grass, who destroys the wicked, and who bears the crescent moon.
ख्यातः खेटधरः खड्गी खड्गाङ्गी खलनिग्रहः ।
ख्यातिप्रदः खेचरेशः ख्यातेहः खेचरस्तुतः ॥ २७ ॥
He who is famous, who holds a shield, who carries a sword, who is adorned with a sword, who suppresses the wicked, who bestows fame, who is the Lord of the celestial beings, whose actions are renowned, and who is praised by the celestial beings.
खरतापहरः स्वस्थः खेचरः खेचराश्रयः ।
खण्डेन्दुमौलितनयः खेलः खेचरपालकः ॥ २८ ॥
He who removes the harshness (of life), who is self-established, who moves in the sky, who is the refuge of the celestial beings, who is the son of Lord Shiva (who wears the crescent moon), who is playful, and who protects the celestial beings.
खस्थलः खण्डितार्कश्च खेचरीजनपूजितः ।
गाङ्गेयो गिरिजापुत्रो गणनाथानुजो गुहः ॥ २९ ॥
He who resides in the sky, who destroys the darkness (like the sun), who is worshipped by the celestial damsels, who is the son of Ganga, the son of Girija (Parvati), the younger brother of Ganesha, and who is known as Guha.
गोप्ता गीर्वाणसंसेव्यो गुणातीतो गुहाश्रयः ।
गतिप्रदो गुणनिधिः गम्भीरो गिरिजात्मजः ॥ ३० ॥
He who is the protector, who is served by the gods, who is beyond the three Gunas, who dwells in the cave (of the heart), who grants liberation, who is the treasure of virtues, who is profound, and who is the son of Girija.
गूढरूपो गदहरो गुणाधीशो गुणाग्रणीः ।
गोधरो गहनो गुप्तो गर्वघ्नो गुणवर्धनः ॥ ३१ ॥
He who has a mysterious form, who removes diseases, who is the Lord of virtues, who is the foremost among the virtuous, who supports the earth, who is unfathomable, who is hidden, who destroys pride, and who increases virtues.
गुह्यो गुणज्ञो गीतिज्ञो गतातङ्को गुणाश्रयः ।
गद्यपद्यप्रियो गुण्यो गोस्तुतो गगनेचरः ॥ ३२ ॥
He who is secret, who knows the virtues, who is a connoisseur of music, who is free from fear, who is the abode of virtues, who loves prose and poetry, who is virtuous, who is praised by the earth/cows, and who moves in the sky.
गणनीयचरित्रश्च गतक्लेशो गुणार्णवः ।
घूर्णिताक्षो घृणिनिधिः घनगम्भीरघोषणः ॥ ३३ ॥
He whose character is worth contemplating, who is free from suffering, who is an ocean of virtues, whose eyes are rolling (in divine ecstasy), who is a treasure of compassion, and whose voice is deep like the clouds.
घण्टानादप्रियो घोषो घोराघौघविनाशनः ।
घनान्नन्दो धर्महन्ता घृणावान् घृष्टिपातकः ॥ ३४ ॥
He who loves the sound of bells, who is the sound itself, who destroys the multitude of terrible sins, who is the joy of the clouds, who destroys unrighteousness, who is compassionate, and who destroys the sins of the arrogant.
घृणी घृणाकरो घोरो घोरदैत्यप्रहारकः ।
घटितैश्वर्यसन्देहो घनार्थो घनसङ्गमः ॥ ३५ ॥
He who is radiant, who is the source of compassion, who is formidable, who strikes down terrible demons, who possesses all divine opulence, who is the ultimate wealth, and who is the union of the dense (divine) essence.
चित्रकृच्चित्रवर्णश्च चञ्चलश्चपलद्युतिः ।
चिन्मयश्चित्स्वरूपश्च चिरानन्दश्चिरन्तनः ॥ ३६ ॥
He who is the creator of wonders, who has a wonderful complexion, who is dynamic, who has a flickering radiance, who is full of consciousness, who is the form of pure intelligence, who is eternal bliss, and who is ancient.
चित्रकेलिश्चित्रतरश्चिन्तनीयश्चमत्कृतिः ।
चोरघ्नश्चतुरश्चारुश्चामीकरविभूषणः ॥ ३७ ॥
He who engages in wonderful play, who is more wonderful, who is worthy of contemplation, who is a marvel, who destroys thieves, who is clever, who is beautiful, and who is adorned with gold ornaments.
चन्द्रार्ककोटिसदृशश्चन्द्रमौलितनूभवः ।
छादिताङ्गश्छद्महन्ता छेदिताखिलपातकः ॥ ३८ ॥
He who is equal to crores of suns and moons, who is the son of the one who wears the moon (Shiva), whose body is covered (in glory), who destroys deception, and who cuts through all sins.
छेदीकृततमःक्लेशश्छत्रीकृतमहायशाः ।
छादिताशेषसन्तापश्चरितामृतसागरः ॥ ३९ ॥
He who cuts through the darkness of suffering, who is sheltered by great fame, who covers all sorrows, and who is an ocean of the nectar of divine stories.
छन्नत्रैगुण्यरूपश्च छातेहरिछन्नसंशयः ।
छन्दोमयश्छन्दगामी छिन्नपाशश्छविश्छदः ॥ ४० ॥
He whose form is beyond the three Gunas (modes of nature), who destroys the ignorance of the devotees, who removes all doubts. He who is the embodiment of the Vedas, who moves according to his own will, who cuts the bonds of worldly existence, and who is the splendor itself.
जगद्धितो जगत्पूज्यो जगज्येष्ठो जगन्मयः ।
जनको जाह्नवीसूनुर्जितामित्रो जगद्गुरुः ॥ ४१ ॥
He who is the well-wisher of the world, who is worshipped by the world, who is the eldest in the world, and who is the world itself. He who is the creator, the son of the Ganga (Kartikeya), the conqueror of enemies, and the teacher of the world.
जयी जितेन्द्रियो जैत्रो जरामरणवर्जितः ।
ज्योतिर्मयो जगन्नाथो जगज्जीवो जनाश्रयः ॥ ४२ ॥
He who is victorious, who has conquered his senses, who is triumphant, and who is devoid of old age and death. He who is full of light, the Lord of the world, the life of the world, and the refuge of the people.
जगत्सेव्यो जगत्कर्ता जगत्साक्षी जगत्रियः ।
जम्भारिवन्द्यो जयदो जगन्मनोहरः ॥ ४३ ॥
He who is served by the world, the creator of the world, the witness of the world, and the lord of the three worlds. He who is worshipped by Indra (the enemy of Jambhasura), the giver of victory, and the one who captivates the mind of the world.
जगदानन्दजनको जनजाड्यापहारकः ।
जपाकुसुमसंकाशो जनलोचनशोभनः ॥ ४४ ॥
He who creates bliss in the world and removes the ignorance (dullness) of the people. He who shines like the Japa flower (hibiscus) and is beautiful to the eyes of the people.
जनेश्वरौ जितक्रोधो जनजन्मनिबर्हणः ।
जयदो जन्तुतापघ्नो जितदैत्यमहाव्रजः ॥ ४५ ॥
He who is the Lord of the people, who has conquered anger, and who destroys the cycle of birth and death for the people. He who grants victory, destroys the suffering of living beings, and has conquered the great hordes of demons.
जितमायो जितक्रोधो जितसङ्गो जनप्रियः ।
झङ्झानिलमहावेगो झरिताशेषपातकः ॥ ४६ ॥
He who has conquered Maya (illusion), conquered anger, conquered attachments, and is dear to the people. He who has the great speed of a storm and who washes away all sins.
झङ्झरीकृतदैत्यौघो झल्लरीवाद्यसम्प्रियः ।
ज्ञानमूर्तिर्ज्ञानगम्यो ज्ञानी ज्ञानमहानिधिः ॥ ४७ ॥
He who has shattered the hordes of demons, who is fond of the sound of the Jhallari (cymbals/drums). He who is the embodiment of knowledge, attainable through knowledge, the wise one, and the great treasure of knowledge.
टङ्कारनृत्तविभवः टङ्कवज्रध्वजाङ्कितः ।
टङ्किताखिललोकश्च टङ्कितैनस्तमोरविः ॥ ४८ ॥
He whose glory is manifested in the sound of his bowstring (Tankara), who is marked by the thunderbolt and flag. He who has carved/shaped the entire world and is the sun that dispels the darkness of sin.
डम्वरप्रभवो डम्भो डम्बो डमरुकप्रियः ।
डमरोत्कटसन्नादो डिम्भरूपस्वरूपकः ॥ ४९ ॥
He who is the source of the universe, who is majestic, who is the sound 'Damba', and who is fond of the Damaru. He who has a fierce sound like the Damaru and who takes the form of a child (Skanda).
ढकानादप्रीतिकरो ढालितासुरसङ्कुलः ।
ढौकितामरसन्दोहो ढुण्डिविघ्नेश्वरानुजः ॥ ५० ॥
He who is pleased by the sound of the Dhakka (drum), who has scattered the crowds of demons. He who is approached by the multitude of gods and is the younger brother of Dhundhi (Ganesha).
तत्वज्ञस्तत्वगस्तीव्रस्तपोस्तपोमयः ।
त्रयीमयस्त्रिकालज्ञस्त्रिमूर्तिस्त्रिगुणात्मकः ॥ ५१ ॥
He who is the knower of truth, who has attained the truth, who is intense, and who is the embodiment of penance. He who is the embodiment of the three Vedas, the knower of the three times, the Trimurti, and the one who possesses the three Gunas.
त्रिदशेशस्तारकारिस्तापघ्नस्तापसप्रियः ।
तुष्टिदस्तुष्टिकृत्तीक्ष्णस्तपोस्तपस्त्रिकालवित् ॥ ५२ ॥
He who is the Lord of the gods, the slayer of Taraka, the destroyer of suffering, and dear to the ascetics. He who grants satisfaction, who creates satisfaction, who is sharp/intense, and who is the knower of the three times.
स्तोता स्तव्यः स्तवप्रीत: स्तुतिः स्तोत्रं स्तुतिप्रियः ।
स्थितः स्थायी स्थापकश्च स्थूलसूक्ष्मप्रदर्शकः ॥ ५३ ॥
He who is the praiser, the one to be praised, pleased by hymns, the praise itself, the hymn, and fond of praise. He who is established, permanent, the founder, and the one who reveals both the gross and the subtle.
स्थविष्ठः स्थविरः स्थूलः स्थानदः स्थैर्यदः स्थिरः ।
दान्तो दयापरो दाता दुरितघ्नो दुरासदः ॥ ५४ ॥
He who is the most massive, the ancient, the gross, the giver of place, the giver of stability, and the steady. He who is self-controlled, compassionate, the giver, the destroyer of sins, and difficult to approach.
दर्शनीयो दयासारो देवदेवो दयानिधिः ।
दुराधर्षो दुर्विगाह्यो दक्षो दर्पणशोभितः ॥ ५५ ॥
He who is worth seeing, the essence of compassion, the God of gods, and the treasure of mercy. He who is invincible, difficult to fathom, the expert, and adorned like a mirror.
दुर्धरो दानशीलश्च द्वादशाक्षो द्विषद्भुजः ।
द्विषद्घ्नो द्विषद्बाहुर्दिनसन्तापनाशनः ॥ ५६ ॥
He who is difficult to hold, generous, twelve-eyed, and the destroyer of enemies. He who destroys enemies, has arms to defeat enemies, and destroys the suffering of the day.
दन्दशूकेश्वरो देवो दिव्यो दिव्याकृतिर्दम् ।
दीर्घवृत्तो दीर्घबाहुर्दीर्घदृष्टिर्दिवस्पतिः ॥ ५७ ॥
He who is the Lord of serpents, the divine, the one with a divine form. He who is long-rounded, long-armed, far-sighted, and the Lord of heaven.
दण्डो दमयिता दर्पो देवसिंहो दृढव्रतः ।
दुर्लभो दुर्गमो दीक्षो दुष्येक्ष्यो दिव्यमण्डनः ॥ ५८ ॥
He who is the rod of punishment, the subduer, pride, the lion among gods, and firm in his vows. He who is difficult to attain, difficult to reach, the initiator, difficult to look at, and adorned with divine ornaments.
दुरोदरघ्नो दुःखघ्नो दुरारिघ्नो दिशाम्पतिः ।
दुर्जयो देवसेनेशो दुर्ज्ञेयो दुरतिक्रमः ॥ ५९ ॥
He who destroys gambling, destroys sorrow, destroys difficult enemies, and is the Lord of the directions. He who is invincible, the Lord of the divine army, difficult to know, and difficult to transgress.
दम्भो दप्तश्च देवर्षिर्देवज्ञो दैवचिन्तकः ।
धुरन्धरो धर्मपरो धनदो धृतिवर्धनः ॥ ६० ॥
He who is pride, the proud, the sage among gods, the knower of gods, and the thinker of destiny. He who is the bearer of burdens, devoted to righteousness, the giver of wealth, and the enhancer of courage.
धर्मेशो धर्मशास्त्रज्ञो धन्वी धर्मपरायणः ।
धनाध्यक्षो धनपतिर्धृतिमान्धूतकिल्बिषः ॥ ६१ ॥
He who is the Lord of righteousness, the knower of scriptures, the archer, and devoted to righteousness. He who is the overseer of wealth, the Lord of wealth, the courageous, and the one who has shaken off all sins.
धर्महेतुर्धर्मशूरो धर्मकृद्धर्मविद् ध्रुवः ।
धाता धीमान्धर्मचारी धन्यो धुर्यो धृतव्रतः ॥ ६२ ॥
He who is the cause of righteousness, the hero of righteousness, the performer of righteousness, the knower of righteousness, and the eternal. He who is the creator, the wise, the follower of righteousness, the blessed, the leader, and firm in his vows.
नित्योत्सवो नित्यतृप्तो निर्लेपो निश्चलात्मकः ।
निरवद्यो निराधारो निष्कलङ्को निरञ्जनः ॥ ६३ ॥
He who is the eternal festival, eternally satisfied, untainted, and of a steady nature. He who is blameless, without support, stainless, and pure.
निर्ममो निरहङ्कारो निर्मोहो निरुपद्रवः ।
नित्यानन्दो निरात्तङ्को निष्प्रपञ्चो निरामयः ॥ ६४ ॥
He who is without attachment, without ego, without delusion, and without disturbance. He who is eternal bliss, without fear, beyond the world, and free from disease.
निरवद्यो निरीहश्च निर्दशो निर्मलात्मकः ।
नित्यानन्दो निर्जरेशो निःसङ्गो निगमस्तुतः ॥ ६५ ॥
He who is blameless, desireless, without blemish, and of a pure nature. He who is eternal bliss, the Lord of the gods, detached, and praised by the Vedas.
निष्कण्टको निरालम्बो निष्प्रत्यूहो निरुद्धवः ।
नित्यो नियतकल्याणो निर्विकल्पो निराश्रयः ॥ ६६ ॥
He who is without thorns (obstacles), without support, without obstruction, and unhindered. He who is eternal, always auspicious, without doubt, and without refuge (as he is the refuge).
नेता निधिर्नैकरूपो निराकारो नदीसुतः ।
He who is the leader, the treasure, of many forms, formless, and the son of the river (Ganga).
पुलिन्दकन्यारमणः पुरुजितपरमप्रियः ॥ ६७॥
He who is the beloved of the Pulinda maiden (Valli), who is the conqueror of many, and who is supremely dear.
प्रत्यक्षमूर्तिः प्रत्यक्षः परेशः पूर्णपुण्यदः ।
पुण्याकरः पुण्यरूपः पुण्यः पुण्यपरायणः ॥ ६८॥
He whose form is manifest, who is visible, the supreme Lord, the bestower of complete merit. He is the mine of merit, the embodiment of merit, the holy one, and devoted to merit.
पुण्योदयः परं ज्योतिः पुण्यकृत्पुण्यवर्धनः ।
परानन्दः परतरः पुण्यकीर्तिः पुरातनः ॥ ६९॥
He who is the rise of merit, the supreme light, the performer of meritorious deeds, and the increaser of merit. He is supreme bliss, the highest, of holy fame, and the ancient one.
प्रसन्नरूपः प्राणेशः पन्नगः पापनाशनः ।
प्रणतार्तिहरः पूर्णः पार्वतीनन्दनः प्रभुः ॥ ७०॥
He of a pleasant form, the Lord of life, the serpent (or one who moves in the sky), the destroyer of sins. He who removes the distress of those who bow to him, the complete one, the son of Parvati, the Lord.
पूतात्मा पुरुषः प्राणः प्रभवः पुरुषोत्तमः ।
प्रसन्नः परमस्पष्टः परः परिवृढः परः ॥ ७१॥
He of a pure soul, the Supreme Being, the life-breath, the source of creation, the best of men. He is pleased, supremely clear, the supreme, the sovereign, the highest.
परमात्मा परब्रह्म परार्थः प्रियदर्शनः ।
पवित्रः पुष्टिदः पूर्तिः पिङ्गलः पुष्टिवर्धनः ॥ ७२॥
The Supreme Soul, the Supreme Brahman, the goal of the highest, of pleasing appearance. He is pure, the bestower of nourishment, fulfillment, the tawny-colored one, and the increaser of nourishment.
पापहारी पाशधरः प्रमत्तासुरशिक्षकः ।
पावनः पावकः पूज्यः पूर्णानन्दः परात्परः ॥ ७३॥
The destroyer of sins, the wielder of the noose, the teacher (punisher) of the arrogant demons. He is the purifier, the fire, the adorable one, the bliss of completeness, the highest of the high.
पुष्कलः प्रवरः पूर्वः पितृभक्तः पुरोगमः ।
प्राणदः प्राणिजनकः प्रदिष्टः पावकोद्भवः ॥ ७४॥
He who is abundant, the best, the primordial, devoted to his parents, the leader. He is the giver of life, the creator of living beings, the well-known one, born of fire (Agni).
परब्रह्मस्वरूपश्च परमेश्वर्यकारणम् ।
परर्द्धिः पुष्टिकरः प्रकाशात्मा प्रतापवान् ॥ ७५॥
He who is of the nature of the Supreme Brahman, the cause of supreme sovereignty. He is supreme prosperity, the bestower of nourishment, the soul of light, and the glorious one.
प्रज्ञापरः प्रकृतार्थः पृथुः पृथुपराक्रमः ।
फणीश्वरः फणिवरः फणामणिविभूषणः ॥ ७६॥
He who is supreme in wisdom, the essence of nature, the vast one, of vast prowess. The Lord of serpents, the best of serpents, adorned with the jewel on the hood.
फलदः फलहस्तश्च फुल्लाम्बुजविलोचनः ।
फडुच्चाटितपापौघः फणिलोकविभूषणः ॥ ७७॥
The bestower of fruits, he who holds the fruit in his hand, with eyes like a blossomed lotus. He who destroys the multitude of sins with a 'phat' sound, the ornament of the serpent world.
बाहुलेयो बृहद्रूपो बलिष्ठो बलवान् बली ।
ब्रह्मेशविष्णुरूपश्च बुद्धो बुद्धिमतां वरः ॥ ७८॥
Born of the Krittikas (Bahuleya), of a vast form, the strongest, the powerful, the mighty. He is the form of Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu, the enlightened one, the best among the wise.
बालरूपो ब्रह्मगर्भो ब्रह्मचारी बुधप्रियः ।
बहुश्रुतो बहुमतो ब्रह्मण्यो ब्राह्मणप्रियः ॥ ७९॥
He who has the form of a child, who contains the universe (Brahma) within, the celibate, the beloved of the wise. He who is learned, highly esteemed, devoted to Brahman, and dear to the Brahmins.
बलप्रमथनो ब्रह्मा बहुरूपो बहुप्रदः ।
बृहद्दानुतनुद्भूतो बृहत्सेनो बिलेशयः ॥ ८०॥
The destroyer of the demon Bala, the creator, of many forms, the great bestower. Born of the great Danu (or the great one), the leader of the great army, he who dwells in the cave (or the earth).
बहुबाहुर्बलश्रीमान् बहुदैत्यविनाशकः ।
बिलद्वारान्तरास्थो बृहच्छक्तिधनुर्धरः ॥ ८१ ॥
He who has many arms, who is powerful and glorious, who is the destroyer of many demons. He who resides within the entrance of the cave, and who wields the great spear (Shakti) and bow.
बालार्कद्युतिमान् बालो बृहद्रक्षा बृहद्धनुः ।
भव्यो भोगीश्वरो भाव्यो भवनाशो भवप्रियः ॥ ८२ ॥
He who has the radiance of the rising sun, who is youthful, who is the great protector, and who possesses a great bow. He who is magnificent, the Lord of enjoyments, the one to be meditated upon, the destroyer of worldly existence, and the beloved of the universe.
भक्तिगम्यो भयहरो भावज्ञो भक्तसुप्रियः ।
भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदो भोगी भगवान् भाग्यवर्धनः ॥ ८३ ॥
He who is attained through devotion, who removes fear, who knows the hearts of all, and who is very dear to his devotees. He who grants both worldly enjoyment and liberation, who is the enjoyer, the Lord, and the enhancer of good fortune.
भ्राजिष्णुर्भावनो भर्ता भीमो भीमपराक्रमः ।
भूतिदो भूतिकृद्भर्ता भूतात्मा भुवनेश्वरः ॥ ८४ ॥
He who is resplendent, the creator, the supporter, the formidable one, and the one of terrible prowess. He who grants prosperity, who creates wealth, who supports all, who is the soul of all beings, and the Lord of the worlds.
भावको भीकरो भीष्मो भावकेष्टो भवोद्भवः ।
भवतापप्रशमनो भोगवान् भूतभावनः ॥ ८५ ॥
He who manifests, who is terrifying, who is awe-inspiring, who is desired by the devotees, and who is the origin of existence. He who pacifies the sorrows of worldly life, who possesses enjoyments, and who is the creator of all beings.
भोज्यप्रदो भ्रान्तिनाशो भानुमान् भुवनाश्रयः ।
भूरिभोगप्रदो भद्रो भजनीयो भिषग्वरः ॥ ८६ ॥
He who provides food/enjoyment, who destroys delusion, who is radiant like the sun, and who is the refuge of the worlds. He who grants abundant enjoyments, who is auspicious, worthy of worship, and the best of physicians.
महासेनो महोदारो महाशक्तिर्महाद्युतिः ।
महाबुद्धिर्महावीर्यो महोत्साहो महाबलः ॥ ८७ ॥
He who is the commander of the great army, who is extremely generous, who possesses great power, and who has great radiance. He who has great intellect, great valor, great enthusiasm, and great strength.
महाभोगी महामायी मेधावी मेखली महान् ।
मुनिस्तुतो महामान्यो महानन्दो महायशाः ॥ ८८ ॥
He who is the great enjoyer, the master of great illusion, the intelligent one, the one wearing a girdle, and the great one. He who is praised by sages, highly venerable, the source of great bliss, and of great fame.
महोजर्जितो माननिधिर्मनोरथफलप्रदः ।
महोदयो महापुण्यो महाबलपराक्रमः ॥ ८९ ॥
He who is highly energetic, the treasure of honor, and the granter of the fruits of desires. He who is of great prosperity, highly meritorious, and of great strength and prowess.
मानदो मतिदो माली मुक्तामालाविभूषणः ।
मनोहरो महामुख्यौ महर्द्धिमूर्तिमान्मुनिः ॥ ९० ॥
He who gives honor, who gives wisdom, who wears a garland, and who is adorned with a garland of pearls. He who is captivating, the great leader, the one with great prosperity and form, and the silent sage.
महोत्तमो महोपायो मोक्षदो मङ्गलप्रदः ।
मुदाकरो मुक्तिदाता महाभोगो महोरगः ॥ ९१ ॥
He who is the supreme, the great means, the granter of liberation, and the bestower of auspiciousness. He who causes joy, the giver of liberation, the one with great enjoyments, and the great serpent.
यशस्करो योगयोनिर्योगिष्ठो यमिनां वरः ।
यशस्वी योगपुरुषो योग्यो योगनिधिर्यमी ॥ ९२ ॥
He who brings fame, the source of Yoga, the most excellent among Yogis, and the best among those who practice self-control. He who is famous, the personification of Yoga, the worthy one, the treasure of Yoga, and the self-controlled one.
यतिसेव्यो योगयुक्तो योगविद्योगसिद्धिदः ।
यन्त्रो यन्त्री च यन्त्रज्ञो यन्त्रवान्यन्त्रवाहकः ॥ ९३ ॥
He who is served by ascetics, who is united with Yoga, the knower of Yoga, and the granter of Yogic accomplishments. He who is the instrument, the controller of instruments, the knower of instruments, the possessor of instruments, and the bearer of instruments.
यातनाहितो योगी योगीशो योगिनां वरः ।
रमणीयो रम्यरूपो रसज्ञो रसभावनः ॥ ९४ ॥
He who is free from suffering, the Yogi, the Lord of Yogis, and the best among Yogis. He who is delightful, of beautiful form, the knower of essence, and the creator of essence.
रञ्जनो रञ्जितो रागी रुचिरो रुद्रसम्भवः ।
रणप्रियो रणोदारो रागद्वेषविनाशनः ॥ ९५ ॥
He who delights (others), who is delighted, who is full of passion (for devotees), who is beautiful, and who is born of Rudra. He who is fond of battle, who is noble in battle, and who destroys attachment and aversion.
रत्नार्ची रुचिरो रम्यो रूपलावण्यविग्रहः ।
रत्नाङ्गधरो रत्नभूषणो रमणीयकः ॥ ९६ ॥
He who has the radiance of gems, who is beautiful, who is charming, and whose form is the embodiment of grace and beauty. He who wears gem-studded limbs, who is adorned with gems, and who is delightful.
रुचिकृद्रोचमानश्च रञ्जितो रोगनाशनः ।
राजीवाक्षो राजराजो रक्तमाल्यानुलेपनः ॥ ९७ ॥
He who creates beauty, who is resplendent, who is delighted, and who destroys diseases. He who has lotus-like eyes, who is the king of kings, and who is anointed with red garlands and sandal paste.
राजद्वेदागमस्तुत्यो रजःसत्त्वगुणान्वितः ।
रजनीशकलारम्यो रत्नकुण्डलमाण्डितः ॥ ९८ ॥
He who is praised by the king of Vedas and Agamas, who is endowed with the qualities of Rajas and Sattva. He who is as charming as the crescent moon, and who is adorned with gem-studded earrings.
रत्नसन्मौलिशोभाढ्यो रणन्मञ्जीरभूषणः ।
लोकैकनाथो लोकेशो ललितो लोकनायकः ॥ ९९ ॥
He who is resplendent with a crown of gems, and who wears jingling anklets. He who is the sole Lord of the worlds, the Lord of the universe, the graceful one, and the leader of the worlds.
लोकरक्षो लोकशिक्षो लोकलोचनरञ्जितः ।
लोकबन्धुर्लोकधाता लोकत्रयमहाहितः ॥ १०० ॥
He who protects the worlds, who teaches the worlds, and who delights the eyes of the worlds. He who is the friend of the worlds, the supporter of the worlds, and the great benefactor of the three worlds.
लोकचूडामणिलोकवन्द्यो लावण्यविग्रहः ।
लोकाध्यक्षस्तु लीलावान्ल्लोकोत्तरगुणान्वितः ॥ १०१ ॥
He who is the crest jewel of the worlds, who is worshipped by the worlds, and whose form is the embodiment of beauty. He who is the overseer of the worlds, who performs divine plays, and who is endowed with transcendental qualities.
वरिष्ठो वरदो वैद्यो विशिष्टो विक्रमो विभुः ।
विबुधाग्रचरो वश्यो विकल्पपरिवर्जितः ॥ १०२ ॥
He who is the most excellent, the bestower of boons, the supreme physician, the distinguished one, the valiant one, and the all-pervading Lord. He who moves at the head of the gods, who is easily attained, and who is devoid of duality.
विपाशो विगततङ्को विचित्राङ्गो विरोचनः ।
विद्याधरो विशुद्धात्मा वेदाङ्गो विबुधप्रियः ॥ १०३ ॥
He who is free from bonds, free from fear, of wonderful limbs, and the radiant one. He who is the possessor of knowledge, of pure soul, the embodiment of the limbs of the Vedas, and dear to the gods.
वचस्करो व्यापकश्च विज्ञानी विनयान्वितः ।
विद्वत्तमो विरोधिघ्नो वीरो विगतरागवान् ॥ १०४ ॥
He who is the creator of speech, the all-pervading, the wise one, and endowed with humility. He who is the most learned, the destroyer of enemies, the heroic one, and free from attachment.
वीतभावो विनीतात्मा वेदगर्भो वसुप्रदः ।
विश्वदीप्तिर्विशालाक्षो विजितात्मा विभावनः ॥ १०५ ॥
He who is free from worldly states, of humble soul, the womb of the Vedas, and the bestower of wealth. He who is the light of the universe, the large-eyed one, the conqueror of the self, and the creator.
वेदवेद्यो विधेयात्मा वीतदोषश्च वेदवित् ।
विश्वकर्मा वीतभयो वागीशो वासवार्चितः ॥ १०६ ॥
He who is to be known by the Vedas, whose soul is obedient (to devotees), free from faults, and the knower of the Vedas. He who is the architect of the universe, free from fear, the Lord of speech, and worshipped by Indra.
वीरध्वंसो विश्वमूर्तिर्विश्वरूपो वरासनः ।
विशाखो विमलो वाग्मी विद्वान्वेदधरो वटुः ॥ १०७ ॥
He who destroys the heroic, whose form is the universe, who has the universal form, and who sits on an excellent throne. He who is Vishakha, the pure one, the eloquent speaker, the learned one, the bearer of the Vedas, and the celibate youth.
वीरचूडामणिर्वीरो विगेशो विबुधाश्रयः ।
He who is the crest jewel of heroes, the heroic one, the Lord of the universe, and the refuge of the gods.
विजयी विनयी वेत्ता वरीयान्विरजा वसुः ॥ १०८ ॥
He who is victorious, humble, the knower, the most excellent, free from passion, and the wealth of the universe.
वीरघ्नो विज्वरो वेद्यो वेगवान्वीर्यवान्वशी ।
वरशीलो वरगुणो विशोको वज्रधारकः ॥ १०९ ॥
He who destroys the heroic, is free from fever (distress), is to be known, is swift, powerful, and self-controlled. He who has excellent character, excellent qualities, is free from sorrow, and bears the thunderbolt.
शरजन्मा शक्तिधरः शत्रुघ्नः शिखिवाहनः ।
श्रीमान्दिष्टः शुचिः शुद्धः शाश्वतो श्रुतिसागरः ॥ ११० ॥
He who was born in the reeds, bears the spear (Shakti), destroys enemies, and has a peacock as his vehicle. He who is glorious, destined, pure, holy, eternal, and the ocean of the Vedas.
शरण्यः शुभदः शर्म शिष्टः शुभलक्षणः ।
शान्तः शूलधरः श्रेष्ठः शुद्धात्मा शङ्करः शिवः ॥ १११ ॥
He who is the refuge, the giver of auspiciousness, happiness, is disciplined, and has auspicious marks. He who is peaceful, bears the trident, is the best, pure-souled, the benefactor, and auspicious.
शितिकण्ठात्मजः शूरः शान्तिदः शोकनाशनः ।
षाण्मातुरः षण्मुखश्च षड्गुणैश्वर्यसंयुतः ॥ ११२ ॥
He who is the son of Shiva (blue-throated), heroic, the giver of peace, and the destroyer of sorrow. He who has six mothers, six faces, and is endowed with the six divine qualities and opulence.
षड्कस्थः षडूर्मिघ्नः षडङ्गश्रुतिपारगः ।
षड्ावरहितः षड्कः षडास्त्रस्मृतिपारगः ॥ ११३ ॥
He who resides in the six (chakras), destroys the six waves (of existence), and is the master of the six limbs of the Vedas. He who is free from the six (passions), is the six-fold one, and is the master of the six scriptures.
षडर्गदाता षड्जीवः षडरिन्नः षडाश्रयः ।
षड्गिरीटधरः श्रीमान् षडाधारश्च षड्गमः ॥ ११४ ॥
He who is the giver of the six goals, the life of the six, the enemy of the six (foes), and the refuge of the six. He who wears the six-fold crown, is glorious, the support of the six, and the path to the six.
षड्कोणमध्यनिलयः षण्डत्वपरिहारकः ।
सेनानीः सुभगः स्कन्दः सुरानन्दः सतां गतिः ॥ ११५ ॥
He who dwells in the center of the hexagram and removes impotence. He who is the commander of the army, beautiful, Skanda, the joy of the gods, and the refuge of the virtuous.
सुब्रह्मण्यः सुराध्यक्षः सर्वज्ञः सर्वदः सुखी ।
सुलभः सिद्धिदः सौम्यः सिद्धेशः सिद्धिसाधनः ॥ ११६ ॥
He who is Subrahmanya, the lord of the gods, omniscient, the giver of all, and happy. He who is easily attained, the giver of success, gentle, the lord of the perfected ones, and the means to success.
सिद्धार्थः सिद्धसङ्कल्पः सिद्धसाधुः सुरेश्वरः ।
सुभुजः सर्वदृक्साक्षी सुप्रसादः सनातनः ॥ ११७ ॥
He whose goals are accomplished, whose resolve is fulfilled, who is the perfected sage, and the lord of the gods. He who has beautiful arms, is the witness of all, is very gracious, and eternal.
सुधापतिः स्वयंज्योतिः स्वयम्भूः सर्वतोमुखः ।
समर्थः सत्कृतिः सूक्ष्मः सुघोषः सुखदः सुहृत् ॥ ११८ ॥
He who is the lord of nectar, self-luminous, self-born, and faces all directions. He who is capable, the good deed, subtle, has a beautiful sound, is the giver of happiness, and a good friend.
सुप्रसन्नः सुरश्रेष्ठः सुशीलः सत्यसाधकः ।
सम्भाव्यः सुमनाः सेव्यः सकलागमपारगः ॥ ११९ ॥
He who is very pleased, the best of gods, of good character, and the seeker of truth. He who is worthy of respect, kind-hearted, to be worshipped, and the master of all scriptures.
सुव्यक्तः सच्चिदानन्दः सुवीरः सुजनाश्रयः ।
सर्वलक्षणसम्पन्नः सत्यधर्मपरायणः ॥ १२० ॥
He who is clearly manifest, existence-consciousness-bliss, a great hero, and the refuge of good people. He who is endowed with all auspicious marks and is devoted to truth and righteousness.
सर्वदेवमयः सत्यः सदा मृष्टान्नदायकः ।
सुधापी सुमतिः सत्यः सर्वविघ्नविनाशनः ॥ १२१ ॥
He who is the embodiment of all gods, truth, and always the giver of delicious food. He who drinks nectar, has a good mind, is truth, and the destroyer of all obstacles.
सर्वदुःखप्रशमनः सुकुमारः सुलोचनः ।
सुग्रीवः सुधृतिः सारः सुराराध्यः सुविक्रमः ॥ १२२ ॥
He who pacifies all sorrows, who is delicate/youthful, who has beautiful eyes. He who has a beautiful neck, who is well-composed, who is the essence, who is worshipped by the Devas, and who is of great prowess.
सुरारिघ्नः स्वर्णवर्णः सर्पराजः सदा शुचिः ।
सप्तार्चिर्भूः सुरवरः सर्वायुधविशारदः ॥ १२३ ॥
He who destroys the enemies of the Devas, who is golden-colored, who is the king of serpents, who is always pure. He who is the source of the seven flames (Agni), who is the best among Devas, and who is skilled in all weapons.
हस्तिचर्माम्बरसुतो हस्तिवाहनसेवितः ।
हस्तचित्रायुधधरो हताघो हसिताननः ॥ १२४ ॥
He who is the son of the one wearing elephant skin (Shiva), who is served by those riding elephants. He who holds wonderful weapons in his hands, who destroys sins, and who has a smiling face.
हेमभूषो हरिद्वर्णो हृष्टिदो हृष्टिवर्धनः ।
हेमाद्रिभिद्धंसरूपो हुङ्कारहतकिल्बिषः ॥ १२५ ॥
He who is adorned with gold, who is green-colored, who gives joy, who increases joy. He who is the destroyer of the golden mountain (or demon), who has the form of a swan, and whose sins are destroyed by his 'Hum' sound.
हिमाद्रिजातानुजो हरिकेशो हिरण्मयः ।
हृद्यो हृष्टो हरिसखो हंसो हंसगतिर्हविः ॥ १२६ ॥
He who is the younger brother of the daughter of the Himalayas (Parvati), who has golden hair, who is made of gold. He who is dear to the heart, who is joyful, who is the friend of Vishnu, who is the swan, who has the gait of a swan, and who is the sacrificial offering.
हिरण्यवर्णो हितकृद्धर्षदो हेमभूषणः ।
हरप्रियो हितकरो हतपापो हरोद्भवः ॥ १२७ ॥
He who is golden-colored, who does good, who gives joy, who is adorned with gold. He who is dear to Shiva, who does good, who has destroyed sins, and who is born from Shiva.
क्षेमदः क्षेमकृत्क्षेम्यः क्षेत्रज्ञः क्षामवर्जितः ।
क्षेत्रपालः क्षमाधारः क्षमक्षेत्रः क्षमाकरः ॥ १२८ ॥
He who gives welfare, who creates welfare, who is auspicious, who is the knower of the field (body/soul), who is devoid of weakness. He who is the protector of the field, who is the support of the earth, who is the field of patience, and who is the bestower of patience.
क्षुद्रघ्नः क्षान्तिदः क्षेमः क्षितिभूः क्षमाश्रयः ।
क्षालिताघः क्षितिधरः क्षीणसंरक्षणक्षमः ॥ १२९ ॥
He who destroys the petty/wicked, who gives patience, who is welfare, who is the lord of the earth, who is the refuge of patience. He who washes away sins, who supports the earth, and who is capable of protecting the weak.
क्षणभङ्गुरसन्नद्धघनशोभिकपर्दकः ।
क्षितिभृन्नाथतनयामुखपङ्कजभास्करः ॥ १३० ॥
He whose matted hair shines like a dense cloud that is fleeting. He who is the sun to the lotus-face of the daughter of the king of mountains (Parvati).
क्षताहितः क्षरः क्षन्ता क्षतदोषः क्षमानिधिः ।
क्षपिताखिलसन्तापः क्षपानाथसमाननः ॥ १३१ ॥
He who has destroyed enemies, who is the imperishable, who is forgiving, who has destroyed faults, who is the treasure of patience. He who has destroyed all sorrows, and who has a face like the moon.
फलश्रुति -
Phalashruti (The fruits of reciting this hymn) -
इति नाम्नां सहस्राणि षण्मुखस्य च नारद ।
यः पठेच्छृणुयाद्वापि भक्तियुक्तेन चेतसा ॥ १ ॥
O Narada, whoever reads or listens to these thousand names of Shanmukha with a heart full of devotion...
स सद्यो मुच्यते पापैर्मनोवाकायसम्भवैः ।
आयुर्वृद्धिकरं पुंसां स्थैर्यवीर्यविवर्धनम् ॥ २ ॥
...is immediately freed from sins committed by mind, speech, and body. It increases the lifespan of men and enhances their stability and vigor.
वाक्येनैकेन वक्ष्यामि वाञ्छितार्थं प्रयच्छति ।
तस्मात्सर्वात्मना ब्रह्मन्नियमेन जपेत्सुधीः ॥ ३ ॥
I shall say in one sentence: it grants all desired objects. Therefore, O Brahmana, the wise one should chant it with full devotion and discipline.
॥ इति श्रीस्कान्दे महापुराणे ईश्वरप्रोक्ते ब्रह्मनारदसंवादे
Thus ends the dialogue between Brahma and Narada, spoken by Ishwara, in the Sri Skanda Mahapurana.
षण्मुखसहस्रनामस्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
