શ્રી પાણ્ડુરઙ્ગ સ્તોત્રમ્

Eleven Sanskrit verses to the Vitthal of Pandharpur, and their whole art is yamaka. Each verse's quarters close on the same run of syllables divided differently every time, so the sound repeats while the sense moves off. What is praised is put in the feminine throughout: not the god directly but the siddhi, the accomplished presence that Pundarika won on the bank of the Bhimarathi, which the good now embrace and which the devout have kept hidden. The ninth verse is the showpiece, sadhunirajita sadhunira ajita sa dhuni rajita, one string of sound parsed three ways, ending on the river that shines even on Shambhu's crest. The last verse lets the conceit go and calls him some dark lamp that loves its moth, taking away heat, spotless, and making oil of affection.
