Goddess Devi

śrī vaiṣṇo devī kī āratī

(Shree Vaishno Devi Ki Aarti (Hindi) in English (IAST))

Also known as vaishno devi ki aarti (hindi) · jaya vaisnavi mata maiya jaya vaisnavi

The Hindi arati sung at Vaishno Devi in the Trikuta hills, its refrain repeating her name twice in the pattern these songs use, and its first line putting the singer in the posture of the queue rather than of the scholar: hands joined, standing before you, I sing the arati. Twenty-three short lines follow, keeping to the cave, the climb and the sight at the end of it rather than to any doctrine, and naming her as the mother who fulfils what is asked. It is the plainest text in this cluster and the one closest to what is actually sung at a shrine on any given day.
