Goddess Devi

śrī ciṃtapūrṇī devī kī āratī

(Shri Chintpurni Devi Ki Aarti (Hindi) in English (IAST))

Also known as sri chintpurni devi ki aarti (hindi) · shree chintpurni devi ki aarti (hindi) · chintpurni devi ki aarti (hindi)

The Hindi arati sung at Chintpurni in the Himachal hills, and its first line gives the claim the shrine rests on: the first power, having come in the age of Kali, has made her dwelling here. The name itself is the promise — she who fills up, or fills in for, care — and the arati returns to it. Eighteen short lines carry the whole, with the refrain naming her twice each time in the pattern the hill shrines use. Nothing in it argues; it is the song of a place, and it assumes that whoever sings it has come up the hill to do so.
