ஶ்ரீதுர்காநீராஜநபஞ்சகம்

Five verses that describe the waving of the lamp as it happens, and count it. The first is the camphor itself: the flame branches out in light, the cloth trembles at every moment, the scent gladdens again and again, and the eye is delighted by what shines in the vessel. Then the offering is made in the prescribed order, and each verse says how many times — four circles at her feet, two at the navel, one at her face, seven over the whole body — with a request set beside each: that the sins already begun be destroyed, that peace and plenty fill the house, that strength and ease be given, that calamity and sorrow depart in the light. Every verse closes on the same line, asking her only to be pleased in mind, for whose sake the waving is done.
