chandas Prose, from the Aitareya Brahmana
स्वाराज्यम् rule of oneself — Svarajya is being one’s own master. The list runs from ruling others to ruling oneself and back again, each word a different reach of power.
मरुत्तस्य of Marutta — A king of old whose sacrifice was so great that the Maruts themselves waited on him and the All-gods sat in his court. He is held up as the measure of a full reign.
एकराट् sole ruler — Eka-raj, the one who rules with no second. It is the last and largest word in the list.
note This passage is the old blessing said over a king. A line is printed twice in the source, from वैराज्यं to आधिपत्यमयं; it is read once. मरूतस्य is printed for मरुत्तस्य. The verse it introduces ends at the start of the next block.

chandas Irregular block: the close of the verse on Marutta, the Ganesha Gayatri, and the closing offering
धीमहि we set our minds — The same word stands at the heart of the Gayatri itself. What follows it is always the request that the mind be driven on.
अञ्जलि a handful — The anjali is the cup made by putting both palms together. The flowers are held there through all the verses and released at the last line.
note The verse on Marutta closes with इति. Then comes the Ganesha Gayatri, said before the flowers are let go. एकदंतायविघ्महे is printed as one word; it is read एकदन्ताय विद्महे. विश्र्वेदेवा: is printed for विश्वेदेवाः.
