Lord Parashurama

śrī paraśurāmāṃcī āratī (jamadagnīkul̤abhūṣaṇa)

(Shree Parashuram Aarti in English (IAST))

Also known as parashuram aarti · jaya rama srirama jaya bhargavarama

A Marathi arati to Parashurama, and it does not look away from what he is remembered for. He is the ornament of Jamadagni's line, with teeth like pearls and a face like the moon, and then the arati moves to the act that made the Konkan: standing on the ridge of the Sahyadri he took an arrow, loosed it, and drove the western sea back. The third verse is blunter still — your anger destroys the very sinful, you burned the demons, and having killed the Kshatriyas you made the earth free of enmity — and the phrase it uses for that last is worth noticing, since it presents the extermination as the ending of feud rather than as a feud. The refrain joins him to Rama, jaya Rama Shrirama jaya Bhargavarama, which is how the Ramdasi tradition places him.
