ஶ்ரீ யுகல கிஶோர கீ ஆரதீ

(Shree Yugal Kishor Ki Aarti in Tamil)

Also known as yugal kishor ki aarti · arati jugala kisoraki kijai

The aarti of the Youthful Pair, and it asks at once for more than a lamp — perform it, and let body and mind and wealth be waved away along with it. What follows is built on twos throughout, because the subject is two. Look upon the fair face and the dark; drink with the eyes their fill of the form that is love itself; the beauty of a crore of suns and moons is in those faces. The peacock crown and the flute on the one; the yellow cloth and the blue worn between them; the dancer's dress that catches the mind. Nanda's son and Vrishabhanu's daughter, in the bowers, the boy and the girl. All the women of Vraja are performing it. Its last words are the claim the whole song rests on — that this is an unshakeable pairing, and will not come apart.
