Goddess Meenakshi

śrī yogamīnākṣī stotram

(Sri Yogaminaksi Stotram in English (IAST))

Also known as shri yoga minakshi stotram · shri yogaminaksi stotram · shree yogaminaksi stotram

Eight verses to Minakshi at Madurai, and every one closes by calling her the Pandya girl, which keeps the goddess of the great temple attached to the dynasty and the city rather than floating free. The first verse is built entirely on the syllable shiva, five times in four lines: seated in the jewelled ocean of the nectar of Shiva's bliss, saluted by Shiva and Brahma and Vishnu and the lord of the gods, fixed in the meditation on Shiva, whose form is the knowledge of Shiva. What follows is Shrividya rather than temple iconography — the bow and arrow and noose and goad in her hands, the three-part vidya, the three bindus, the shining in the triangle, the three seeds — and the seventh verse takes her apart into the eight limbs of yoga and the alphabet from a to ksha, and then negates each in turn.
