ଶ୍ରୀଦୁର୍ଗାଧ୍ଯାନମ୍

Thirteen verses that are less a hymn than an instruction for making the image, their verbs telling the maker where to set each thing. Matted hair with the half-moon upon it, three eyes, a face like the full moon, the colour of the flax flower, in fresh youth, standing in the triple bend, ten arms soft as lotus stalks. The right hands take trident, sword, discus, sharp arrow and spear in that order; the left, shield, drawn bow, noose, goad, and bell or axe. Below, the buffalo is shown headless and the demon emerging from the severed neck, sword in hand, pierced through the heart and held by the hair in her noose-bearing left hand. Her right foot rests level on the lion, the left with its toe raised on the buffalo, and eight powers from Ugrachanda to Atichandika stand about her.
