श्री मेधा दक्षिणामूर्ति मन्त्रवर्णपद स्तुतिः

The three crests of the Veda declare Om, the one-syllabled Brahman — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable tāra (Om).

Bowing to whom all the sages go to that supreme state, hard to reach — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable na.

Freed from the net of delusion, the knower of Brahman passes beyond that state — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable mo.

Taking refuge in Bhava, this wise one became himself the supreme, no longer subject to becoming — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable bha.

Shining like the form of the sky, and after whose shining the whole world shines — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable ga.

He who dwells at the foot of the banyan, the imperishable Lord of the worlds — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable va.

By whose splendours yonder sun comes to mark out time — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable te.

Who is skilful in the destruction of Tripura and in the breaking of the poison of time — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable da.

Swiftly does mastery of speech come to men by the remembrance of whose name — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable kṣi.

He who is denoted by the syllable ṇā, and who kindles my sleeping mind — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable ṇā.

Whose forms are eightfold, the cause of the world’s birth and all that follows — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable mū.

“That thou art, the supreme Brahman” — so is one taught by the teacher — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable r (with repha).

Knowing whom, Brahmā and the other seers go to perfect peace — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable ye.

Him they call the god of the great; auspicious in both Veda and Āgama — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable ma.

Who stands pervading the whole world, within and without — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable hya.

You alone are the witness of the world, the cause of its making, its holding and its end — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable me.

“Dhāman” — that which is called the cause and the effect of the Ordainer’s creation — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable dhā.

Meditating on that which is beyond primal nature, the sage indeed attains identity with it — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable pra.

Him the knowers worship, beyond all categories, whose nature is consciousness — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable jñā.

By whose contemplation, naming and worship insight is born — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable pra.

By the mere remembrance of whom a man is freed from bondage — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable ya.

By whose radiance the senses here do not fall into dullness among their objects — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable cha.

He, made of consciousness, who stands within the heart of the knowing and far from the dull — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable svā.

To him who wears the lord of serpents almost as a necklace, the giver of every knowledge — salutation to Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti, whose form is the syllable hā — and with this the mantra is complete: “Oṃ namo bhagavate dakṣiṇāmūrtaye mahyaṃ medhāṃ prajñāṃ prayaccha svāhā”.
