(Sri Sudarshan Kavach in Tamil)
Also known as shri sudarshan kavach · shree sudarshan kavach · sudarshan kavach
Vallabhacharya's armour, and the thing being invoked is not a god with a body but a weapon: Sudarshana, the discus, is named as the deity of the mantra, and the seed of it is the imperative hana hana, strike, strike. The text says plainly what it is for and what it is modelled on — the protection of Uttara's womb and the guarding of Parikshit inside it, and the turning aside of the brahmastra — so the precedent it claims is the one episode in which the discus was used to shield rather than to cut. It is also meant to be written rather than only said: the verses are to be set down inside a yantra drawn in the shape of a wheel. Most of its middle is a long run of Krishna's names, and its last verse fixes the observance, from one Krishna-ashtami to the next.
