ଶ୍ରୀ ଆଦ୍ଯ କାଲୀ ସ୍ତୋତ୍ରଂ

Brahmā said — Verse 1: Listen, dear child — I shall proclaim the Ādyā Stotram, which yields great fruit. Whoever recites it constantly with devotion becomes beloved of Viṣṇu himself.

Verse 2: For that person in the Kali age, there shall be no fear of death or disease whatsoever. The childless one obtains a son if one listens for three fortnights (forty-five days).

Verse 3: If heard from the mouth of a brāhmaṇa for two months, release from bondage follows. She whose children have died becomes one whose children survive — if she listens for six months.

Verse 4: Reciting it on a boat in peril, or in battle — one attains victory. Having written it and installed it in one's home, there shall be no fear of fire or thieves at all.

Verse 5: Before kings one is ever victorious; all the gods become pleased. Oṃ Hrīm — She is Brahmāṇī in Brahmalōka, Sarvamaṅgaḷā in Vaikuṇṭha.

Verse 6: She is Indrāṇī in Amarāvatī (Indra's heaven), Ambikā in Varuṇa's realm, the form of Time (Kālarūpā) in Yama's abode, the auspicious Śubhā in Kubēra's mansion.

Verse 7: She is Mahānandā in the southeast (fire-corner), the deer-vehicled Mṛgavāhinī in the northwest, Raktadantā (red-toothed) in the southwest, and the trident-bearing Śūladhāriṇī in the northeast.

Verse 8: In the netherworld (Pātāḷa) she is Vaiṣṇavī; in Siṃhala (Sri Lanka) she is Dēvamōhinī; in the Gem-Island (Maṇidvīpa) she is Surasā; in Laṅkā she is Bhadrakāḷikā.

Verse 9: She is Rāmēśvarī at Rāmēśvaram (the sacred causeway), Vimalā at Puruṣōttama (Jagannātha Purī), Virajā in the land of Oḍra (Odisha), and Kāmākṣī at the Blue Mountain (Nīlācala, Assam).

Verse 10: She is Kāḷikā in Bengal; Mahēśvarī in Ayōdhyā; Annapūrṇā in Vārāṇasī; and Gayēśvarī at the Gayā pilgrimage site.

Verse 11: She is Bhadrakāḷī at Kurukṣētra; the supreme Kātyāyanī at Vraja; Mahāmāyā at Dvārakā; Mahēśvarī at Mathurā.

Verse 12: You are the hunger of all beings; you are the shore and limit of the ocean. You are the Ninth (Navamī) of the bright fortnight and the supreme Eleventh (Ekādaśī) of the dark fortnight.

Verse 13: You are the daughter of Dakṣa, the destroyer of Dakṣa's sacrifice; you are Rāma's Jānakī (Sītā), the very cause that brought about Rāvaṇa's destruction.

Verse 14: O Goddess — you slew Chaṇḍa and Muṇḍa, you destroyed Raktabīja, you crushed Niśumbha and Śumbha, and you slew Madhu and Kaiṭabha.

Verse 15 — Phalaśruti: Durgā — who bestows devotion to Viṣṇu, happiness, and liberation, always. The person who constantly recites this holy Ādyā Stotram —

Verse 16: — shall have no fear of any fever, and all diseases shall be destroyed for that person. They gain the merit of ten million pilgrimages — there is no doubt in this.

Armor verse 1: May Jayā (Victory) protect me in front; may Vijayā (the Victorious) protect me from behind; may Nārāyaṇī protect my head; may the lion-vehicled one (Siṃhavāhinī) protect all my limbs.

Armor verse 2: Śivadūtī (Śiva's messenger), Ugrachaṇḍā (the fierce), Paramēśvarī at each limb; Viśālākṣī (wide-eyed), Mahāmāyā, Kaumārī, Śaṅkhinī, and the auspicious Śivā.

Armor verse 3: Chakriṇī (discus-bearer), Jayadātrī (giver of victory), the battle-frenzied (Raṇamattā), the battle-loving (Raṇapriyā); Durgā, Jayantī, Kāḷī, Bhadrakāḷī, Mahōdarī (the large-bellied).

Armor verse 4: Nārasiṃhī (Narasiṃha's power), Vārāhī (the boar-goddess), Siddhidātrī (granter of perfection), Sukhapradā (bestower of happiness), Bhayaṅkarī (the terrifying), Mahāraudrī (the greatly fierce), Mahābhayavināśinī (destroyer of all great terror).
