ମହେନ୍ଦ୍ର କୃତ ମହାଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ସ୍ତୋତ୍ରଂ

Salutations again and again to the One who dwells on the lotus, and to the consort of Narayana. Salutations again and again to the beloved of Krishna, the quintessence of all, and to the lotus-born Goddess.

Salutations to the One whose eyes are like lotus petals and whose face is like a lotus. Salutations to the One who is seated on a lotus, the possessor of the lotus, and the energy of Lord Vishnu.

Salutations to the One who is the embodiment of all wealth and the giver of everything. Salutations to the giver of happiness, the giver of liberation, and the giver of spiritual attainments.

Salutations to the One who grants devotion to Hari and bestows joy. Salutations to the One who resides in the chest of Krishna and who is the mistress of Krishna.

Salutations to the One who is the very embodiment of Krishna’s radiance and who is adorned with precious gems. Salutations to the presiding deity of all wealth and to the Great Goddess.

Salutations to the presiding deity of the harvest and the Goddess of the crops. Salutations to the One who is the embodiment of wisdom and the giver of intellect.

You are Mahalakshmi in Vaikuntha, Lakshmi in the ocean of milk, the Lakshmi of heaven in the abode of Indra, and the Royal Lakshmi in the palaces of kings.

You are the household Lakshmi in the homes of men and the presiding deity of the home. You are Surabhi, the mother of cows, and you are Dakshina, the fulfiller of all desires in sacrificial rites.

You are Aditi, the mother of the gods, and you are Kamala, dwelling in the lotus. You are Svaha in the offering of oblations to the gods, and you are remembered as Svadha in the offering of food to the ancestors.

You are truly the embodiment of Vishnu and the foundation of all, manifesting as the Earth. You are the embodiment of pure goodness and are forever devoted to Narayana.

You are free from anger and violence, the bestower of boons, and possess a beautiful countenance. You are the provider of the ultimate goal of life, and You are the supreme bestower of service to Lord Hari.

Without You, the entire universe becomes mere ashes and lacks any essence; without You, the whole world is as if dead while living, and equivalent to a corpse.

You are indeed the supreme being for all, manifesting as the essence of every relative. Without You, even kin cannot truly converse or connect with one another.

One who is without You is devoid of all relations, and one who possesses You is truly surrounded by kin. You are the fundamental cause of Dharma (righteousness), Artha (prosperity), Kama (desire), and Moksha (liberation).

Just as a mother is to her nursing infant in childhood, so are You always the mother to all beings throughout the entire universe.

If an infant deprived of its mother happens to survive by divine providence, it is certain that no one can ever survive without You.

O Mother, whose nature is of great grace, please be pleased with me. O Eternal One, restore to me my kingdom that has been seized by enemies.

O Beloved of Hari, as long as we are without You, we are like those who have no kin, like beggars, and devoid of all prosperity.

O Goddess of the gods, grant me a kingdom, grant me splendor, grant me strength, grant me fame, grant me wealth, and indeed, grant me sons.

O Beloved of Hari, grant me the fulfillment of my desires, grant me wisdom, grant me enjoyment, grant me knowledge, grant me righteousness, and grant me all the auspiciousness that is desired.

Through this hymn, [one attains] complete authority, influence, and brilliance, as well as victory, valor in battle, and supreme prosperity.

Having spoken thus, the great Indra, along with all the hosts of gods, bowed down repeatedly, his eyes filled with tears of devotion, touching his head to the ground.

Brahma, Shankara, Shesha, Dharma, and Keshava all repeatedly offered prayers of propitiation for the sake of the gods.

Having granted a boon to the gods and bestowed a beautiful garland of flowers, the satisfied Goddess Lakshmi presented it to Keshava in the assembly of the gods.

O Narada, the gods, feeling satisfied, departed to their respective abodes, and the Goddess, full of joy, went to the lap of Hari, who reclines upon the Ocean of Milk.

O Narada, Brahma and Ishana (Shiva) also returned to their own dwellings, having lovingly bestowed their auspicious blessings upon the gods.

A person who recites this highly meritorious hymn during the three junctures of the day (morning, noon, and evening) shall become equal to Kubera and a great king of kings.

If a person recites this perfected hymn, they become like the wish-fulfilling tree; for human beings, the perfection of this hymn is attained through the repetition of it five hundred thousand times.

If one recites this perfected hymn with self-control for one full month, there is no doubt that they will become a great king and enjoy supreme happiness.
