Panchayatana puja

paṃcāyatana āratī (aghasaṃkaṭabhayanāśana)

(Panchayatan Aarti in English (IAST))

A Marathi arati for the five-shrine worship, and its construction is exactly the worship: one stanza each for Ganapati, Hari, Shiva, the Sun and Amba, with a refrain that names all five together. Each stanza keeps to its own deity's proper vocabulary — the noose and goad and the granting of hopes for Ganapati; the husband of the ocean-born and the lotus-petal eyes and the yellow cloth for Vishnu; the bull-rider, Parvati's lover and the burner of Manmatha for Shiva; the opener of the lotus and the loosener of the eye's confusion for the Sun, whose touch of rays drives off the covering of dark. The fifth turns to Amba as the one who makes and keeps the three worlds and says there is no second thing to compare her form to. Household panchayatana worship is done to this.
