അരിഷ്ട what is ill-starred — Arishta is the run of bad luck a person can feel closing in, the sort read from omens rather than caused by an enemy.
സിദ്ധിബുദ്ധി skill and sense — Siddhi is getting the thing done, buddhi the wit to see how. They are also the names of his two wives.
ലക്ഷ്മീഃ Lakshmi — The hymn is called the Ganesha-Lakshmi Stotra because of this last line: not that she is asked for, but that she stays where the hymn is said.
