Vyasa's eight verses, from the Uttara Khanda of the Padma Purana, and each ends by bowing to Ganapati under a different description rather than a fixed one — the descent that is Vakratunda, the royal swan on the lake of the mind, the root of all bliss. The matter is partly ornament and partly geography. The retinue about him, lovely armlets and necklaces, a wonderful gold working at the neck, the rays of many jewels seen from far off; and then the noose in the hand, a body like a golden mountain, the light of a crore of suns. Between them the hymn puts him somewhere particular, dwelling on the bank of the Malati, and gives the reason for the whole exercise: he is the destroyer of the mountain of becoming, and far off from sorrow and from poverty.

গণপতিপরিবারং চারুকেযূরহারং
গিরিধরবরসারং যোগিনীচক্রচারম্ ।
ভবভযপরিহারং দুঃখদারিদ্র্যদূরং
গণপতিমভিবন্দে বক্রতুণ্ডাবতারম্ ॥ ১ ॥
অখিলমলবিনাশং পাণিনা হস্তপাশং
কনকগিরিনিকাশং সূর্যকোটিপ্রকাশম্ ।
ভজ ভবগিরিনাশং মালতীতীরবাসং
গণপতিমভিবন্দে মানসে রাজহংসম্ ॥ ২ ॥
বিবিধমণিমযূখৈঃ শোভমানং বিদূরৈঃ
কনকরচিতচিত্রং কণ্ঠদেশে বিচিত্রম্ ।
দধতি বিমলহারং সর্বদা যত্নসারং
গণপতিমভিবন্দে বক্রতুণ্ডাবতারম্ ॥ ৩ ॥
দুরিতগজমমন্দং বারুণীং চৈব বেদং
বিদিতমখিলনাদং নৃত্যমানন্দকন্দম্ ।
দধতি শশিসুবক্ত্রং চাঙ্কুশং যো বিশেষং
গণপতিমভিবন্দে সর্বদানন্দকন্দম্ ॥ ৪ ॥
ত্রিনযনযুতফালে শোভমানে বিশালে
মুকুটমণিসুঢালে মৌক্তিকানাং চ জালে ।
ধবলকুসুমমালে যস্য শীর্ষ্ণঃ সতালে
গণপতিমভিবন্দে সর্বদা চক্রপাণিম্ ॥ ৫ ॥
বপুষি মহতি রূপং পীঠমাদৌ সুদীপং
তদুপরি রসকোণং তস্য চোর্ধ্বং ত্রিকোণম্ ।
গজমিতদলপদ্মং সংস্থিতং চারুছদ্মং
গণপতিমভিবন্দে কল্পবৃক্ষস্য বৃন্দে ॥ ৬ ॥
বরদবিশদশস্তং দক্ষিণং যস্য হস্তং
সদযমভযদং তং চিন্তযে চিত্তসংস্থম্ ।
শবলকুটিলশুণ্ডং চৈকতুণ্ডং দ্বিতুণ্ডং
গণপতিমভিবন্দে সর্বদা বক্রতুণ্ডম্ ॥ ৭ ॥
কল্পদ্রুমাধঃ স্থিতকামধেনুং
চিন্তামণিং দক্ষিণপাণিশুণ্ডম্ ।
বিভ্রাণমত্যদ্ভুত চিত্ররূপং
যঃ পূজযেত্তস্য সমস্তসিদ্ধিঃ ॥ ৮ ॥

ব্যাসাষ্টকমিদং পুণ্যং গণেশস্তবনং নৃণাম্ ।
পঠতাং দুঃখনাশায বিদ্যাং সশ্রিযমশ্নুতে ॥ ৯ ॥
॥ ইতি শ্রীপদ্মপুরাণে উত্তরখণ্ডে ব্যাসবিরচিতং গণেশাষ্টকম্ ॥
