শ্ৰী মাৰ্তাণ্ড স্তোত্ৰম্

To the one who removes dense darkness, who is beneficial to the whole world, full of light, the eye of the Supreme Lord, who shatters the serpentine pride of the demon Mandēha — to Sūrya of intense rays, salutation upon salutation. (1)

To the one dear to Chāyā (his shade-wife), adorned with jewelled earrings, the best among the gods, the kinsman of the lotuses, crowned with a golden gem-set diadem, the cutter (Vikartana) — to Sūrya of intense rays, salutation upon salutation. (2)

To the bee that hovers over the lotus-heart of his consort Saṃjñā, who embodies Śiva, Brahmā born of the lotus, and Acyuta (Viṣṇu), the eye of the worlds, the scorching one, the day-maker — to Sūrya of intense rays, salutation upon salutation. (3)

To the one whose chariot is yoked to seven horses, lord of all planets, wearing crimson robes, compassionate toward those who take refuge, holding a golden lotus, lord of the day — to Sūrya of intense rays, salutation upon salutation. (4)

To the one who bears the weight of the Vedas, who bestows rain, who also draws water back through evaporation, the ocean of compassionate nectar, Nārāyaṇa, worshipped by the gods of many kinds — to Sūrya of intense rays, salutation upon salutation. (5)
