ଶ୍ରୀ ଷଷ୍ଠୀ ଦେଵୀ ସ୍ତୋତ୍ରମ୍

Dhyānam — Meditation verse 1: I worship Śrī Dēvasēnā — the auspicious Mother, Ambikā, born from the mind of Brahmā, ever the granter of all desires; beloved of Skanda, mother of the universe, bestower of victory, good sons, and good fortune; adorned with beautiful jeweled ornaments, compassionate, pure, radiant, and auspicious — the sixth portion of Prakṛti, the supreme divine Goddess.

Dhyānam — Meditation verse 2: I worship Dēvasēnā — the pure sixth portion of Prakṛti (Nature), well-established, of excellent vows, bestower of good sons and auspiciousness, the embodiment of compassion, mother of the universe; having the complexion of the white champaka flower, adorned with red ornaments, of pure form — the supreme, transcendent Dēvasēnā.

Stotram — Verse 1: Salutation to the Goddess, salutation to the Great Goddess, to Siddhi (perfection), to Śānti (peace) — salutation and salutation. To the auspicious one, to Dēvasēnā (commander of the divine army), to Ṣaṣṭhī Devī — salutation and salutation.

Verse 2: To Varadā (giver of boons), Putradā (giver of sons), Dhanadā (giver of wealth) — salutation and salutation. To Sukhadā (giver of happiness), Mōkṣadā (giver of liberation), to Ṣaṣṭhī Devī — salutation and salutation.

Verse 3: To Sṛṣṭi (the creative power), to the one who is the sixth portion of Prakṛti, to the accomplished Siddhā — salutation and salutation. To Māyā (divine illusion), to the accomplished Yoginī (Siddhayōginī), to Ṣaṣṭhī Devī — salutation and salutation.

Verse 4: To Sārā (the essential one), to Śāradā (the autumnal goddess of wisdom), to the Supreme Goddess (Parādēvī) — salutation and salutation. To the presiding deity of children (Bālādhiṣṭātṛdēvī), to Ṣaṣṭhī Devī — salutation and salutation.

Verse 5: To Kaḷyāṇadā (bestower of auspiciousness), to Kaḷyāṇī (the auspicious one herself), to the granter of the fruits of all actions — to the one who appears directly before all her devotees (Pratyakṣā), to Ṣaṣṭhī Devī — salutation and salutation.

Verse 6: To the one worthy of all worship, to the beloved of Skanda (Skandakāntā), the protector of the gods in all the actions of all beings (Dēvarakṣaṇakāriṇī) — to Ṣaṣṭhī Devī — salutation and salutation.

Verse 7: To the one whose very nature is pure sattva (Śuddhasattvasvarūpā), who is ever adored by all people, free from violence and anger (Hiṃsākrōdhavarjitā) — to Ṣaṣṭhī Devī — salutation and salutation.

Verse 8: Grant me wealth, grant me a beloved, grant me a son — O Queen of the gods (Surēśvarī)! Grant me honor, grant me victory, destroy my enemies — O Great Goddess (Mahēśvarī)!

Verse 9: Grant me righteousness (dharma), grant me glory (yaśas) — to Ṣaṣṭhī Devī, salutation and salutation. Grant me land, grant me progeny, grant me knowledge — O greatly worshipped one (Supūjitē)! Grant me auspiciousness and victory — to Ṣaṣṭhī Devī, salutation and salutation.

Phalaśruti — Verse 10: Having thus offered praise to the Goddess, one obtains a son devoted to good vows, renowned and kingly — by the grace of Ṣaṣṭhī Devī.

Verse 11: O Brahmā, whoever listens to this Ṣaṣṭhī stotram for a full year — the childless one obtains a son and an excellent, long life.

Verse 12: She who with devotion recites and hears this hymn for one year — freed from all sins, even a woman deemed hopelessly barren shall conceive.

Verse 13: By the grace of the Goddess, she shall bear a heroic son, virtuous, learned, renowned, and long-lived.

Verse 14: A woman who has had only one child, or one whose children have all died — listening for a full year, she shall obtain a son by the grace of Ṣaṣṭhī Devī.

Verse 15: When a child is afflicted with disease, if the parents listen to this stotram — within a month the child is freed from all illness, by the grace of Ṣaṣṭhī Devī.

Verse 16 — Closing mangala: Victory to you, O Goddess, O Mother of the universe (Jaganmāta), O you who bring joy to all creation (Jagadānandakāriṇī)! Be gracious to me, O auspicious one (Kaḷyāṇī) — salutation to you, O Ṣaṣṭhī Devī.
