ଶ୍ରୀରାଘଵଂ ଦଶରଥାତ୍ମଜମପ୍ରମେଯଂ
ସୀତାପତିଂ ରଘୁକୁଲାନ୍ଵଯରତ୍ନଦୀପମ୍ ।
ଆଜାନୁବାହୁମରଵିନ୍ଦଦଲାଯତାକ୍ଷଂ
ରାମଂ ନିଶାଚରଵିନାଶକରଂ ନମାମି ॥
I bow to Rama, the descendant of Raghu, the son of Dasharatha, the immeasurable one, the Lord of Sita, the jewel-lamp of the Raghu dynasty, whose arms reach his knees, whose eyes are broad like lotus petals, and who is the destroyer of the night-wandering demons.
ଵୈଦେହୀସହିତଂ ସୁରଦ୍ରୁମତଲେ ହୈମେ ମହାମଣ୍ଡପେ
ମଧ୍ଯେ ପୁଷ୍ପକମାସନେ ମଣିମଯେ ଵୀରାସନେ ସୁସ୍ଥିତମ୍ ।
ଅଗ୍ରେ ଵାଚଯତି ପ୍ରଭଞ୍ଜନସୁତେ ତତ୍ତ୍ଵଂ ମୁନିଭ୍ଯଃ ପରଂ
ଵ୍ଯାଖ୍ଯାନ୍ତଂ ଭରତାଦିଭିଃ ପରିଵୃତଂ ରାମଂ ଭଜେ ଶ୍ଯାମଲମ୍ ॥
I worship the dark-complexioned Rama, who is comfortably seated along with Vaidehi (Sita) in a heroic posture on a jeweled throne (Pushpaka) within a golden pavilion under the celestial Kalpa tree, who is explaining the supreme truth to the son of the wind (Hanuman) and the sages, and who is surrounded by Bharata and others.
ଶ୍ରୋତୁମିଚ୍ଛାମ୍ଯହଂ ଦେଵ ତଦେଵଂ ସର୍ଵକାମଦମ୍ ।
ନାମ୍ନାଂ ସହସ୍ରଂ ରାମସ୍ଯ ବ୍ରୂହି ଯଦ୍ଯସ୍ତି ମେ ଦଯା ॥ ୧
O Lord, I wish to hear that which fulfills all desires. Please tell me the thousand names of Rama, if you have compassion for me. (1)
ଶ୍ରୀମହାଦେଵ ଉଵାଚ-
ଅଥ ଵକ୍ଷ୍ଯାମି ତେ ଦେଵି ରାମନାମସହସ୍ରକମ୍ ।
ଶୃଣୁ ଚୈକମନାଃ ସ୍ତୋତ୍ରଂ ଗୁହ୍ଯାଦୁହ୍ଯତରଂ ମହତ୍ ॥ ୨
Sri Mahadeva (Shiva) said:
Now I shall tell you, O Goddess, the thousand names of Rama. Listen with a focused mind to this great hymn, which is more secret than all secrets. (2)
ଅସ୍ଯ ଶ୍ରୀରାମସହସ୍ରନାମସ୍ତୋତ୍ରମହାମନ୍ତ୍ରସ୍ଯ, ଭଗଵାନ୍ ଈଶ୍ଵର ଋଷିଃ ।
ଅନୁଷ୍ଟୁପ୍ଛନ୍ଦଃ । ଶ୍ରୀରାମଃ ପରମାତ୍ମା ଦେଵତା ।
ଶ୍ରୀମାନ୍ମହାଵିଷ୍ଣୁରିତି ବୀଜମ୍ । ଗୁଣଭୃନ୍ନିର୍ଗୁଣୋ ମହାନିତି ଶକ୍ତିଃ ।
ସଂସାରତାରକୋ ରାମ ଇତି ମନ୍ତ୍ରଃ । ସଚ୍ଚିଦାନନ୍ଦଵିଗ୍ରହ ଇତି କୀଲକମ୍ ।
ଅକ୍ଷଯଃ ପୁରୁଷଃ ସାକ୍ଷୀତି କଵଚମ୍ । ଅଜେଯଃ ସର୍ଵଭୂତାନାଂ ଇତ୍ଯସ୍ତ୍ରମ୍ ।
ରାଜୀଵଲୋଚନଃ ଶ୍ରୀମାନିତି ଧ୍ଯାନମ୍ ।
ଶ୍ରୀରାମପ୍ରୀତ୍ଯର୍ଥେ ଦିଵ୍ଯସହସ୍ରନାମଜପେ
ଵିନିଯୋଗଃ ।
For this great mantra of the Sri Rama Sahasranama Stotra, the Rishi (sage) is Lord Ishwara (Shiva). The meter is Anushtup. The deity is Sri Rama, the Supreme Soul. The seed (bija) is 'Sriman Mahavishnu'. The power (shakti) is 'He who possesses attributes yet is beyond them, the Great One'. The mantra is 'Rama, the deliverer from the world'. The pin (kilaka) is 'The embodiment of truth, consciousness, and bliss'. The armor (kavacha) is 'The imperishable Person, the Witness'. The weapon (astra) is 'The unconquerable of all beings'. The meditation (dhyana) is 'The lotus-eyed, glorious one'. The application (viniyoga) is in chanting these divine thousand names for the pleasure of Sri Rama.
କରନ୍ଯାସଃ -
ଶ୍ରୀରାମଚନ୍ଦ୍ରାଯେତ୍ଯଙ୍ଗୁଷ୍ଠାଭ୍ଯାଂ ନମଃ ।
ସୀତାପତଯେ ଇତି ତର୍ଜନୀଭ୍ଯାଂ ନମଃ ।
ରଘୁନାଥାଯେତି ମଧ୍ଯମାଭ୍ଯାଂ ନମଃ ।
ଭରତାଗ୍ରଜାଯେତ୍ଯନାମିକାଭ୍ଯାଂ ନମଃ ।
ଦଶରଥାତ୍ମଜାଯେତି କନିଷ୍ଠିକାଭ୍ଯାଂ ନମଃ ।
ହନୁମତ୍ପ୍ରଭଵେ ଇତି କରତଲକରପୃଷ୍ଠାଭ୍ଯାଂ ନମଃ ।
ଏଵଂ ହୃଦଯାଦିନ୍ଯାସଃ ।
Hand purification (Kara Nyasa): Salutations to Sri Ramachandra with the thumbs. Salutations to the Lord of Sita with the index fingers. Salutations to the Lord of Raghus with the middle fingers. Salutations to the elder brother of Bharata with the ring fingers. Salutations to the son of Dasharatha with the little fingers. Salutations to the Lord of Hanuman with the palms and backs of the hands. Similarly, the heart purification (Hridaya Nyasa) should be performed.
ଧ୍ଯାନମ୍-
ଵିଜ୍ଞାନହେତୁଂ ଵିମଲାଯତାକ୍ଷଂ ପ୍ରଜ୍ଞାନରୂପଂ ସ୍ଵସୁଖୈକହେତୁମ୍ ।
ଶ୍ରୀରାମଚନ୍ଦ୍ରଂ ହରିମାଦିଦେଵଂ ପରାତ୍ପରଂ ରାମମହଂ ଭଜାମି ॥
Meditation (Dhyanam):
I worship Rama, the Supreme beyond the supreme, the cause of perfect knowledge, whose broad eyes are pure, whose form is pure consciousness, who is the sole cause of His own bliss, Sri Ramachandra, Lord Hari, the primordial God.
ତତ୍ତ୍ଵସ୍ଵରୂପଂ ପୁରୁଷଂ ପୁରାଣଂ ସ୍ଵତେଜସା ପୂରିତଵିଶ୍ଵମେକମ୍ ।
ରାଜାଧିରାଜଂ ରଵିମଣ୍ଡଲସ୍ଥଂ ଵିଶ୍ଵେଶ୍ଵରଂ ରାମମହଂ ଭଜାମି ।
I worship Rama, the embodiment of truth, the ancient Person, the one who fills the universe with His radiance, the Emperor of emperors, who resides in the orb of the sun, the Lord of the universe.
ଲମିତ୍ଯାଦିପଞ୍ଚପୂଜାଃ ।
Thus perform the five-fold worship starting with 'Lam'.
ଓଁ ରାମଃ ଶ୍ରୀମାନ୍ ମହାଵିଷ୍ଣୁର୍ଜିଷ୍ଣୁର୍ଦେଵହିତାଵହଃ ।
ତତ୍ତ୍ଵାତ୍ମା ତାରକଂ ବ୍ରହ୍ମ ଶାଶ୍ଵତଃ ସର୍ଵସିଦ୍ଧିଦଃ ॥
Om. Rama (The charming one), Sriman (The glorious), Mahavishnu (The great all-pervading Lord), Jishnu (The victorious), Devahitavaha (Bringer of welfare to gods), Tattvatma (Essence of truth), Taraka Brahma (Saving Brahman), Shashvata (Eternal), Sarvasiddhida (Bestower of all perfections).
ରାଜୀଵଲୋଚନଃ ଶ୍ରୀମାନ୍ ଶ୍ରୀରାମୋ ରଘୁପୁଙ୍ଗଵଃ ।
ରାମଭଦ୍ରଃ ସଦାଚାରୋ ରାଜେନ୍ଦ୍ରୋ ଜାନକୀପତିଃ ॥ ୧॥

ଜନାର୍ଦନୋ ଜିତାମିତ୍ରଃ ପରାର୍ଥୈକପ୍ରଯୋଜନଃ ॥ ୨॥
Agraganya (Foremost), Varenya (Most excellent), Varada (Bestower of boons), Parameshwara (Supreme Lord), Janardana (Destroyer of enemies), Jitamitra (Conqueror of foes), Pararthaika prayojana (Whose sole purpose is the highest good). (2)
ଵିଶ୍ଵାମିତ୍ରପ୍ରିଯୋ ଦାନ୍ତଃ ଶତ୍ରୁଜିଚ୍ଛତ୍ରୁତାପନଃ ।
ସର୍ଵଜ୍ଞଃ ସର୍ଵଦେଵାଦିଃ ଶରଣ୍ଯୋ ଵାଲିମର୍ଦନଃ ॥ ୩॥

ଜ୍ଞାନଗମ୍ଯୋ ଦୃଢପ୍ରଜ୍ଞଃ ଖରଧ୍ଵଂସୀ ପ୍ରତାପଵାନ୍ ॥ ୪॥
Jnanabhavya (Realized through knowledge), Aparicchedya (Indivisible), Vagmi (Eloquent), Satyavrata (Devoted to truth), Shuchi (Pure), Jnanagamya (Attainable through knowledge), Dridhaprajna (Of firm intellect), Kharadhvamsi (Destroyer of Khara), Pratapavan (Valorous). (4)
ଦ୍ଯୁତିମାନାତ୍ମଵାନ୍ ଵୀରୋ ଜିତକ୍ରୋଧୋଽରିମର୍ଦନଃ ।
ଵିଶ୍ଵରୂପୋ ଵିଶାଲାକ୍ଷଃ ପ୍ରଭୁଃ ପରିଵୃଢୋ ଦୃଢଃ ॥ ୫॥

ଈଶଃ ଖଡ୍ଗଧରଃ ଶ୍ରୀମାନ୍ କୌସଲେଯୋଽନସୂଯକଃ ।
ଵିପୁଲାଂସୋ ମହୋରସ୍କଃ ପରମେଷ୍ଠୀ ପରାଯଣଃ ॥ ୬॥
Isha (Lord), Khadgadhara (Wielder of the sword), Sriman (Glorious), Kausaleya (Son of Kausalya), Anusuyaka (Free from envy), Vipulamsa (Broad-shouldered), Mahoraska (Broad-chested), Parameshthi (Supreme deity), Parayana (Supreme refuge). (6)
ସତ୍ଯଵ୍ରତଃ ସତ୍ଯସନ୍ଧୋ ଗୁରୁଃ ପରମଧାର୍ମିକଃ ।
ଲୋକଜ୍ଞୋ ଲୋକଵନ୍ଦ୍ଯଶ୍ଚ ଲୋକାତ୍ମା ଲୋକକୃତ୍ପରଃ ॥ ୭॥
Satyavrata (Devoted to truth), Satyasandha (True to his promise), Guru (Preceptor), Paramadharmika (Supremely righteous), Lokajna (Knower of the worlds), Lokavandya (Revered by the worlds), Lokatma (Soul of the worlds), Lokakrit (Creator of the worlds), Para (Supreme). (7)
ଅନାଦିର୍ଭଗଵାନ୍ ସେଵ୍ଯୋ ଜିତମାଯୋ ରଘୂଦ୍ଵହଃ ।
ରାମୋ ଦଯାକରୋ ଦକ୍ଷଃ ସର୍ଵଜ୍ଞଃ ସର୍ଵପାଵନଃ ॥ ୮॥
Anadi (Without beginning), Bhagavan (Divine Lord), Sevya (Worthy of worship), Jitamaya (Conqueror of illusion), Raghudvaha (Upholder of the Raghus), Rama (Charming), Dayakara (Compassionate), Daksha (Skillful), Sarvajna (All-knowing), Sarvapavana (Purifier of all). (8)
