śrī gaṇeśa (gaṇapati) sūktam (ṛgveda)

Come to us, O Indra, and grasp for us with your great right hand that which is full of nourishment and wondrous variety — O mighty one whose hand is generous and powerful.

We know You well, O Indra of mighty deeds, You who bestow abundant gifts, who possess vast wealth. We know You as one of immense measure, through Your divine protections and aids.

O valiant Indra, neither the gods nor mortals can obstruct you when you desire to give. O fearsome one, none can hold back the gift of cattle from you.

Therefore let us praise Indra, the sovereign lord of all treasures, the self-ruling king. May he not neglect us in the bestowal of his bountiful gifts.

May he praise and sing forth! May he hear the Sama chant being sung! May he hasten toward us with abundant wealth and blessings!

Bring wealth to us with your right hand, and touch us graciously with your left. O Indra, do not exclude us from the share of riches.

Approach and bring forth with boldness, O Bold One, the wealth of people! Seize the possessions of the one who does not give offerings.

O Indra, that wealth and strength which indeed exists for you, to be won through the inspired sages — may you attain that pressed Soma through us, and bestow that victory upon us.

May your swift bounties, O Agni, come to us immediately — treasures that are universally radiant and delightful. Through our hymns of praise, may they quickly be won and celebrated.

We invoke You, the Lord of hosts, the Leader of all celestial assemblies. O Sage among sages, whose glory is supreme and unexcelled. O Eldest King, Lord of sacred utterances and Master of Brahman — hearing our prayers, come with Your protections and be seated in our sanctuary.

O Ganapati, seat yourself firmly among the hosts. They call you the wisest among the sages and seers. Without you, nothing whatsoever is accomplished, even from afar. O bountiful one, offer the great and wondrous hymn of praise.

O bountiful Indra, look upon us who call out in need. O friend, be aware of your friends, O lord of treasures. O battle-maker of true strength, grant us victory in battle. Even to those who have not yet worshipped, bestow your grace — bless us with wealth.
