- ଶ୍ରୀଉଚ୍ଛିଷ୍ଟଗଣପତିସହସ୍ରନାମସ୍ତୋତ୍ରମ୍ (śrīucchiṣṭagaṇapatisahasranāmastotram)the hymn of the thousand names of Shri Ucchishta Ganapati
anvaya ଶ୍ରୀଉଚ୍ଛିଷ୍ଟଗଣପତିସହସ୍ରନାମସ୍ତୋତ୍ରମ୍
chandas Prose, the title
ଉଚ୍ଛିଷ୍ଟ Ucchishta — Literally what is left over, as food left on a plate. Ucchishta Ganapati is the tantric form worshipped outside the rules of purity that govern ordinary worship; his rites may be done with the mouth unwashed, which is where the name comes from.
note The hymn comes from the Rudrayamala Tantra and is spoken by Bhairava to the goddess. It is a tantric text, and some of its names and its closing instructions belong to rites that are kept for initiates.
