ശ്രീ കാമാഖ്യാ സ്തോത്രം

Victory to you, O Kāmeśī, O Cāmuṇḍā! Victory to you who take away the spirits that afflict! Victory to you, O Goddess who go everywhere! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

O you whose form is the universe, auspicious and pure; of strange eyes, three-eyed; of terrible form, O gracious one, O Wisdom! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

O Mālājayā, O Jayā, O Jambhā; O you whose eyes are the elements, O troubled one, O imperishable; O great Māyā, O great Sovereign! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

O you of terrible eyes, O fearsome Goddess, who bring all beings to their end; O Kālī, and O Vikarālī! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

O Kālī, of terrible stride; O Kāmeśvarī, beloved of Hara; O you who are the very essence of every scripture! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

O lamp of the land of Kāmarūpa, dweller on the Nīlakūṭa hill; O crusher of Niśumbha and Śumbha! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

O Kāmākhyā, abiding in Kāmarūpa; O Kāmeśvarī, beloved of Hari; grant me my desire always! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

O you whose great mouth is rich with the offering, O Sovereign of the three worlds; O Goddess, slayer of the buffalo-demon! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

O you contented by the goat-offering, greatly terrible; O Kāmākhyā, adored by the gods; hail, giver of desires, well pleased! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

When a king who has lost his kingdom, restrained and pure, fasts on the ninth day, and on the eighth and the fourteenth — that best of men…

…within a year regains his kingdom, free of every thorn. And whoever hears with devotion this account of your arising, O Goddess, is released from every sin and attains the supreme extinction.

O Sovereign of Śrī Kāmarūpa, of the sun’s own splendour, your long face like an opened lotus; eager to cast down the praise of the rākṣasa foes of the gods; O you who are the threefold Veda, praised by the gods — I bow to you.

White and black, of red and tawny form — the shapes that shine forth are hers; and she is the very form of change, conceived as the auspicious and the inauspicious alike. To her I bow.

O you arisen in Kāmarūpa, crest-jewel of the seat of desire; O support of the universe, O great Māyā! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

O you of unmanifest body, serene, unbroken, taking the form of desire; O you approached through time, supreme and serene! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

She who is contemplated within the hollow of the suṣumnā, whose form is light — to that supreme heroine I bow. O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

O you whose face is terrible with tusks, adorned with a garland of skulls; O Goddess present on every side and everywhere! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

O Cāmuṇḍā, O great Kālī, O Kālī who bears the skull; with the noose in your hand and the staff in your hand! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.

O Cāmuṇḍā, whose face bears the garland of the kula; of sharp tusks, of great strength; O Goddess seated upon the corpse! O Kāmeśvarī, salutation be to you.
