Lord Ganesha

मयूरेश स्तोत्रम्

(Mayuresa Stotram)

Also known as mayuresha stotram · mayuresa stotra · mayureshwar stotram

Ten verses spoken by Brahma to Mayuresha, the peacock-riding Ganesha of Morgaon who stands first among the eight Ashtavinayaka shrines. Every verse ends on the same line — I bow to Mayuresha — and each fills the space before it with a pair of opposites held together: the ancient being who plays at many games, illusionist and hard to conceive; beyond the beyond, changeless, seated in the heart, past the three strands and made of them; creating, protecting and withdrawing at his own will; manifest and unmanifest, being and non-being; the delight of Parvati and the increase of Shambhu's joy; both the whole and the part. Mayuresha himself answers with the closing two verses, promising the destruction of every affliction, and release for those in prison within seven days.
