ସୂର୍ଯ ମଣ୍ଡଲ ସ୍ତୋତ୍ରମ୍

Salutation to Sūrya of a thousand rays, whose nature arises through a thousand branches; who partakes of the essence born of a thousand unions, who bears weapons numbering a thousand — salutation to you. (1)

That solar orb which is luminous and vast, radiant as a jewel, intense, without beginning, the cause of destroying poverty and sorrow — may that most excellent light of Savitṛ purify me. (2)

That solar orb well worshipped by the hosts of gods, praised by the learned, skilled in leading the mind to liberation — I bow to that God of gods, Sūrya. May that most excellent light of Savitṛ purify me. (3)

That solar orb which is dense with knowledge and beyond ordinary reach, worshipped in all three worlds, whose nature embodies the three guṇas, whose divine form is made entirely of radiance — may that most excellent light of Savitṛ purify me. (4)

That solar orb which awakens the deepest intelligence, which promotes the growth of dharma in people, which is the cause of destroying all sins — may that most excellent light of Savitṛ purify me. (5)

That solar orb skilled at destroying disease, gloriously sung in the Ṛg, Yajur, and Sāma Vedas, by whose light the three worlds — earth, mid-region, and heaven — are illumined — may that most excellent light of Savitṛ purify me. (6)

That solar orb which those who know the Vedas describe, which the hosts of Cāraṇas and Siddhas sing, which the assemblies of yogis devoted to yoga praise — may that most excellent light of Savitṛ purify me. (7)

That solar orb worshipped by all people, which creates light in this mortal world, which is without beginning, being time itself and beyond time — may that most excellent light of Savitṛ purify me. (8)

That solar orb known as Viṣṇu and as four-faced Brahmā, the imperishable remover of sin for all people, the cause of the dissolution of time and the world-age — may that most excellent light of Savitṛ purify me. (9)

That solar orb renowned as the creator of the universe, bold in creation, sustenance, and dissolution, into which the entire world is ultimately reabsorbed — may that most excellent light of Savitṛ purify me. (10)

That solar orb which is the very self and supreme abode of all-pervading Viṣṇu, the pure essence, accessible to those who follow the path of yoga through subtle inner disciplines — may that most excellent light of Savitṛ purify me. (11)

That solar orb sung by those who know the Vedas, accessible by the path of yoga to yogis, that which is to be known through all knowledge — I bow to that Sūrya. May that most excellent light of Savitṛ purify me. (12)

The person who constantly recites this Sūrya Maṇḍala Hymn becomes purified of all sins in soul and is glorified in the world of Sūrya.
