स्कन्द षष्ठीSkanda Shashti

Also called Kanda Sashti · Soorasamharam · Subrahmanya Shashti

The six days ending in Sūrasaṃhāram — the defeat of Sūrapadma — kept above all at the six padai vīḍu shrines of Tamil Nadu.

When it falls

The sixth tithi of the bright fortnight of Kārtika, at the end of a six-day fast. A Ṣaṣṭhī falls in the bright fortnight of every month and is kept for him.

The tithi, not a date — the calendar date is a pañchāṅga reckoning and differs by region. Check your local pañchāṅga for this year.

The Reading

The Kanda Ṣaṣṭhī Kavacham daily through the six days, and Śaṅkara’s Subrahmaṇya Bhujaṅgam.
